Newish indie band (read: indie BOYband) called Raygun who had a short promo program done for them on [shit] UK music channel 4Music. WARNING: contains images and content of ball-achingly funny unintentional humour. www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzWpNdGb4Ps (part 1 of 2) www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMkqQWnbtaI (part 2 of 2) EDIT - part 2 is probably funnier than part 1, but makes less sense in context unless you've seen part 1 first. Mojitos at 11am, anyone? Bwahahahaha! PS - I believe these no-marks are signed to Sony. Well done, Sony chaps: let PRR go after not lifting a finger to promote them, and go out of your way to not only sign Raygun, but actually spend money on getting these chumps a TV slot.... I despair!

I was wondering whether to make atopic about this myself. they have since issued a deliberately-and-successfully funny apology with tounges in cheek. Though tbh, may have been scripted and I think that this is probably a more accurate representation of their persona. Anyway, the bit in the video where they fuse a certain cook with a music genre is priceless.
Too right about Sony. Grrs and much fist shaking all round. Their music is godawful as well.

blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendId=239610968&blogId=504211155Also, I wouldn't be completely surprised if it was deliberate. They've got more pub from this as a viral hit / plastered all over NME.com than they would from a well-thought out tv interview. Watch enough of John Bird/Stephen Fry's brilliant show Absolute Power and you'll believe anything of the PR industry. Though I'll admit that it's not really intended as a documentary!

Ugh, I just read the Myspace apology - it's every bit as cringeworthy as the actual TV show, IMO. If you've fucked up, then just be a man and say so simply and concisely; don't try and get any self-deprecating humour in there in the aftermath of you being a laughing stock. Although (and furthering the correct [IMO] theory you mention about them using this as a marketing tool) the apology is very probably another step in a PR campaign so cynical that even Alistair Campbell would blanch and have second thoughts at...

Alistair Campbell / Malcolm Tucker [The Thick Of It is proably an even better example of the dark arts of spin] have and will never blanch. They are pure evil / gods, depending on whether you work in PR or not. I don't, but I don't really work at all so...
