Yes Cargo was brilliant. Really brilliant.
Considering that they are "a band riddled with technical problems", it's remarkable how professional and smoothe they appear onstage.
And there was more than two people doing filming, there was a couple on both sides of the stage and more in the crowd I think. There's probably some decent footage there. And I wouldn't be surprised if there's a couple of bootlegs surfacing shortly...
Yes album in Feb is very exciting, it seems to be the most concrete date we've ever had (and Lord knows we've had a few). Jamie said that as of Monday the album will be completely done. So plenty of time to get working on videos/DVDs/album bonuses/gig bookings and actually announcing the friggin thing.

Right I'm going to keep my summary short because it's 3:12 and really I have no idea what I'm still doing up.
This was actually my first PRR gig and I don't live close enough to London to get back home the same night as the gig I spent literally hundreds to see them play, so when Jamie's amp went I was having kittens about whether or not the gig would happen. But it did, so onwards..
I'm in agreement with everyone else, the camera man seemed to basically be doing upnose shots which isn't going to look too wonderful, but hopefully some good footage has come out of it. Their reputation of having technical problems had precided them as far as I was concerned, apart from the amp thing I was satisfied with their sound, but then I had nothing to compare it to.
The new songs.... I like them, but theres something about them I just can't quite grasp onto. With that said I love Deus Ex Machina (evidently enough to make a bodged guessing attempt on the lyrics for my first post) and Apogee, so perhaps the others will grow on me. The older songs I loved and sang obnoxiously loud to, I believe I was standing next to blondeambassador (I was at the v. front, in between Chloe and Jon. I've lurked here since april and I'm also on last.fm so I'm going by your avatar I've seen for the Cargo event on l.fm; I'm not some stalking creep.) so my apologies if you heard any of my awful singing.
Unfortunately, my friend developed manflu the day of the gig, and so by the time the set had finished, he was feeling too ill to loiter about to chat with the band afterwards, but I did manage to have a brief convo with Paul which made my night a little extra more special.
Basically I've just rambled on for a few paragraphs but I loved the gig personally, and felt it was worth every penny I spent. I'll be definitely picking up their album in February and catching their 2009 tour, hopefully they'll be somewhere a bit closer to me so I don't have to stay in London!
One question though- did the cloakrooms at Cargo ever actually open? I was a bit annoyed I had to carry my bag and wear my coat in there...

Hi everyone, I've been flitting around this thread since the gig but only now been arsed to contribute something myself (down with a nasty cold at the minute: cue the world's smallest violin etc). Was a rather middling gig by PRR's standards, I thought: I've seen them play worse than that, but it definitely wasn't the best I've seen them play either. There may be a couple of mitigating factors to my perception that it was only really a 'standard' performance: my own cold and generally feeling pretty rotten can't have helped any, and Jamie's amp going certainly did seem to leave Jamie feeling understandably frustrated for the rest of the show, let alone the fact that having to use a (very generously) donated amp would prevent them from reaching their optimal live sound. Neither of those two factors was in any way PRR's fault, so playing a decent-if-not-inspired show (to my ears) was actually a pretty commendable feat, and I'm going to give credit to the band for doing so. As to the actual set itself, after reading people's various opinions in this thread, looks like I'm out of synch with the lot of ya! I thought the best performance of the new tracks they played was Les Malheurs which was outstanding (though I agree is maybe not best used as an opener, but it can still do a job there); the normally always-highlight-of-the-set Deus wasn't one of the night's best tracks for me in a rare blip; and it seems like I'm completely on my own in thinking that Willows was the best performance of the old songs that got played (and probably the best song of the night). I'm not deliberately trying to be contrary, honest guv! As to the other stuff, completely agree with BA and others that while the projections might not have been inspired, they never got in the way and I wasn't really looking at them for any length of time during the show anyway. The camera crew (a rather grandiose term for two people, but there you go!) were only mildly distracting for me, but I'm sure it will be worth it if it results in a decent video of the gig wherever that turns up. My main problem with the camera stuff was that I was in the front row next to BA, TDF and [evidently] jemi (hello! , and because my cold was making my nose run like Haile Gebrselassie I was having to carefully time rubbing my nose raw with tissues at moments when the cameras weren't doing crowd shots or generally pointing in Jon's direction (who we were right in front of). Don't really fancy posterity recording me as the sick weakling constantly blowing his nose during the gig! Cargo itself was very impressive, and if it hadn't been for me feeling rough then I would've liked to stay for longer after the show and had a few drinks, especially as Mr Willcox was celebrating his birthday from midnight onwards! (And also as leaving when I did didn't help any: First Capital Connect trains decided to screw me about on the way home, resulting in me not getting in till after 2am, despite only living 30 miles north of London: grrrr! )

Don't get me wrong, I don't think Willows was poor in any way, it's still a fantastic song, and one of their best live tracks, it's just I happen not to glean as much enjoyment from it as some of the others, which is purely my fault for having listened to it several million times. And actually the same thing is starting to happen to relatively new ones like Cupid and even Deus....It's for them difficult to compete with songs I've only heard once or no times before, and which I've been looking forward to for over a year! I expect once album two is out and I've been playing it on repeat for months at a time, then all the songs will be on a level playing field and I will be able to give a less biased account of which I enjoy the most.

Yup, that was me! And you must've been the dark-haired girl on the other side of BA from me, I presume? Don't worry about spotting people at gigs, it's always good to put faces to names that you see on here and in the PRR community in general: if you knew who BA was then it was perfectly fair to clock me given that we were the 2 people on either side of Miss Blondeambassador, no stalking apologies necessary!

With the coat and bag due to Cargo not opening the cloakrooms and my stubborness to leave my post in fear of somebody taking my spot at the front, yes that was me. I think I was loitering around by you after the gig as well waiting to talk to Paul. My friend had gone outside to die of manflu so I was looking a bit of a loner! Next time I'll say hello. Cool, I just feel a bit strange being all hurrr i know you without anybody knowing me. Guess that's to be expected if I've been lurking over here for 7 months-ish! EDIT: Since everybody has been discussing what song was the highlight for them, I think it was actually Borgens Vor that did it for me. I felt it had the most energy.

Next time I'll say hello. Please do, always enjoy meeting people from the boards and putting faces to names! On that note, I was gutted not to finally meet Ryan yesterday at Cargo - after so many posts on here I've got a mental image of what I imagine you look like, and I'd love to know whether I'm anywhere near right! In a very wholesome, non-creepy way of course, mate!

Avatars get stuck in my head unless I actually know!

I'm sure there are photos of myself, BA and possibly TDF somewhere on this forum, probably somewhere else in Live when people were trying to recognise each other, but I'm too lazy to find them: sorry!

Looks like someones got to defend the cameraman! It's not his fault he had to run around such a small stage! If they were going to film for a DVD, they should have gone to a bigger venue. We know because me and my friends had his arse in our face all night (right in front of Jamie).
Felt so sorry for Jamie, he's usually the happy one on stage but on Wednesday during his technical problems it looked liked he wanted to kill someone! We backed away slowly...
We all loved the gig, but I think the sound was slightly strange to us because if your in the front two rows ure ahead of the speakers and miss out on some of the uummpph.
Just seen the list for the UK tour next year! Going to maybe three of them!...maybe four...
By the way, I was the silly lad wearing a blue hoodie!

I've filmed in Cargo, it isn't as difficult as he was making it.
The point is, he didn't need to be on the stage. In fact, that is my gripe.
