But which one?
***
A diamond necklace played the pawn Hand in hand some drummed along, oh To a handsome man and baton A blind class aristocracy Back through the op'ra glass you see The pit and the pendulum drawn Columnated ruins domino
Canvass the town and brush the backdrop Are you sleeping?
Hung velvet overtaken me Dim chandelier awaken me To a song dissolved in the dawn The music hall a costly bow The music all is lost for now To a muted trumperter swan Columnated ruins domino
Canvass the town and brush the backdrop Are you sleeping, Brother John?
Dove nested towers the hour was Strike the street quicksilver moon Carriage across the fog Two-Step to lamplight cellar tune The laughs come hard in Auld Lang Syne
The glass was raised, the fired rose The fullness of the wine, the dim last toasting While at port, adieu or die
A choke of grief HEART hardened I Beyond belief a broken man too tough to cry
Surf's Up Aboard a tidal wave Come about hard and join The young and often spring you gave I heard the word Wonderful thing A children's song
Child, child, child, child, child A child is the father of the man

Is it really? Man, it sounds so much like it could be PRR! Saw it on Jamie's myspace, and jumped to a pretty quick conclusion I guess.

Haha, yeah no, thats his favourite song, or one of them anyway, so much he's got some of it tatooed upon himself. But no, as much as I'm sure PRR would be flattered you thought it was them, it is in fact the Beach Boys.

Mmm to a point but if the band will put links up to their own myspaces and encourage people to visit them in blogs and bulletins, then its inevitable people are going to read into them sometimes I suppose....

Yeah I was gunna say, they've invited people to look at them recently with the promise of them being updated. Wondered where you'd gone though

Mate, I've been friends with Jamie on myspace for ages. It's not stalking if the guy actually knows who you are.
Anyways, back to the point, which is those lyrics are really really cool. I just bought the record in an attempt to rescue myself from the terrible abyss of thinking that the beach boys are all about surfing and girls and california and good vibrations.

Anyway, yes the Beach Boys are brilliant and what indeed is wrong with sun, surfing and girls?! Nothing's exactly wrong with them, it just doesn't seem like the kind of creative material that would keep me interested in a band, and it's why I never really made an effort to get into the 'boys (aside from in a kind of pathetic feel good way). I always kinda assumed PRR's fascination with them was for the cool harmonies, not the lyrics.

Ha, an interesting theory... haha, it's also not rape if you shout 'surprise!' Just like it's not a surprise if you shout 'rape!'
