Should be good.
I'll be seeing them with Janes Addiction/Nine Inch Nails at the O2 soon. Yay me.

lucky you!..I could go to p-fork to see them, but don't really have the $ or desire to pay that much to travel 7+hours. I'm already going to Atlanta for ProgPowerUSA.
Hopefully they'll be in my town or the States again later in the year. Word is they will play the entire new album.

well the cover is nothing to write-home about, but if the music is good of course it won't matter. August 25th US Release pitchfork.com/news/35346-new-mew-album-details-extremely-long-title-crazy-tracklist/ Epic Danish rockers Mew don't do anything halfway. They make big music with big guitars and big vocals that suggest nothing less than the beautiful, horrible end of the world. And they're readying their follow-up to 2006 breakout LP And the Glass-Handed Kites for release August 25 in the U.S., August 24 in the UK, and August 17 in Scandinavia via Columbia. (That mutated circus clown/butterfly thing is the cover.) And, going with the prog-like scope, the album title isn't a word or even a group of words as much as it's a poem:
No more stories Are told today I'm sorry They washed away
No more stories The world is grey I'm tired Let's wash away
Yep, that's the album title. (How about we just call it No More Stories... for the time being?) As if that wasn't crazy enough, the tracklisting features tiny photos of the same circus clown/butterfly shown on the cover as the titles for two tracks. Yes, the track titles are pictures, not words.
Mew hit the road this summer, touring with Nine Inch Nails in Europe and playing the Pitchfork Music Festival in July.
Check out the No More Stories... tracklist below.
No More Stories...:
01 New Terrain 02 Introducing Palace Players 03 Beach 04 Repeaterbeater 05 Silas the Magic Car 06 Cartoons and Macramé Wounds 07 A Dream 08 Hawaii 09 Vaccine 10 Tricks of the Trade 11 Sometimes Life Isn’t Easy 12 Reprise

I actually like the cover...I quite like the extended title as well...though it's obvious that the title really is 'No More Stories' and I'm sure that's how they intended to be known. Interesting...can't wait to hear it!

Haha, those jokers with the title! It's actually kinda irritating when bands do those massive long album/song titles: the really long ones seem to cause havoc with the meta-data reading in some mp3 players when you rip the CD to your digital music collection - bands should be more considerate of the foibles of modern technology when they name the work they've spent so long creating! I've got a song by a HOTS side-project called Thee Dust Rackets where the title is so long it causes problems reading it on some mp3 players/programs, and I think Fiona Apple released some album a few years back with a title that was a big old paragraph that filled the entire cover (I haven't got that album, just my recollection of seeing it advertised). When will these bands learn?!

I'm loving the EP on spotify actually (particularly "Introducing Palace Players" - a bit math rock / Justice in my mind for some reason. Don't think I can justify that, just a feeling).
