Nope I'm not going all the way to Frankfurt. Unlike some on here I'm not made of money. I just wish they'd play some decent festivals here instead of the wank ones that they're booked into...........

Problem is that "here" is always relative. Actually, the Loreley is almost "here" for me, it's about a two hour drive from where I live. Don't know exactly where your "here" is, but I guess it's somewhere in Britain. Aren't they playing in Brighton this week?

...such as Woolfire. PRR excepted, there's no-one else on that bill I'd pay to listen to, let alone travel to see. Sorry, but this is off-topic now.

Great way to expose to new audiences though, as with any smaller festival, there will be people who will go along just because they like the festival and then will just watch a variety of whoevers on, as headliners PRR will get some good exposure- great way for some new people to see PRR. In some ways, better than being a little fish in a huge pond at some of the bigger festivals, although a bit of both would of course be ideal.
Oh, and anything called 'Night of the Prog' is pretty much a no go for me, I'm not gonna lie...even if it was in the UK I don't think I'd be tempted!

Oh, and anything called 'Night of the Prog' is pretty much a no go for me, I'm not gonna lie...even if it was in the UK I don't think I'd be tempted! Ok, let's face it. Most of today's so-called "prog" is really a parody on itself. A lot of bands play exactly the same as they did last century. Which means they're not at all "progressive". In the sense of real "progressiveness", PRR certainly deserve the right to play there. Almost all the bands I highlighted are bands that really surprised me because they're really unique in what they do (except probably for Arena). So I don't think the label "prog" is bad per se. In its original sense, it's still a very good thing; and this year the choice of bands to play on that festival is pretty good.

Ah don't get me wrong, I wasn't having a go at prog per se, it's all well and good for those who like it, in whatever terms you want to describe it, it's just really not my thing that's all and that goes for all the bands on that lineup that I know of...PRR are an exception to the rule when it comes to my tastes.

Nah, that's fine. PRR and their music are pretty exceptional, so I won't mind if you don't like the rest of the bands. It just happens pretty often that people read the label "prog" somewhere and judge a band purely on that basis. It's not really a beneficial label these days...

They really don't fit in with their new material; reckon they'll rely more on the older stuff?

I've been to this festival every year so far (though only one day last year) and if anything it's a great event where you can meet lots of like-minded people in a breathtaking open-air setting. It's also a good thing that the venue is basically much too big (allegedly Marillion played there in front of 18000 people in 87, though I reckon today around 12000 would be the limit), as this means there's planty of space for everybody. Anyway, PRR are now scheduled to play on Saturday at 5pm for about an hour. As to prog being a four-letter word (as hinted at above), I seriously couldn't care less. For me there's just music I like and music I don't like. There are probably as many "prog" bands in the first category as in the latter.
