Saw them play a headline show in London tonight (first time I've seen them headline), and they were frickin' awesome. Will come back to this to give some more detail if anyone is remotely interested, but it's too late now with work in the morning to write any more. But awesome is the word of the day, kids.

I had to miss a lot of their set when we played together cos I was trying to get my projector to work (it didn't). What I saw was great though.

Just to shout out that I think you can see my friends' band Spring Offensive play on the 18th March in Staines with A Genuine Freakshow and Cats & Cats & Cats. Quality line-up and suggest people try to make it, though Staines might be problematic for me. I'll be putting this in the Spring Offensive thread as well, I think.

I'm going to be going to at least a couple of dates on the AGF tour (when they actually flipping announce the full schedule), locations allowing. If Staines is one of the closer ones to me then I will try and get to that one. Really like what I've heard of Spring Offensive so far and will be getting their mini-album when they release it later this year.

I'm just listening to the first demo again. If you can find a copy it's well worth tracking down. They recorded it in two days in a barn or something and it's really scraggy and rough but it's brilliant. there's a couple of bits where the singers voice cracks, but in a really beautiful way. if you can't find it i might be able to help, it's well OOP now...! my friends' band Spring Offensive I just double took at this and had to look them up. They supported REVERE recently, I knew I knew the name! Good stuff it was as well.

In which case, I agree: all those songs (Luckmore Drive, Prospect Of The Sea, Left My Blood On Your Bathroom Floor and The Horrible Truth) are bloomin' corkers! (And yep, me three for the love-in with Spring Offensive too - I Found Myself Smiling is already nailed on for having 2010's best lyrics, no matter what else [of the very many brilliant things] comes out this year.)

No, the first demo. It's called 'The EP'.
The Horrible Truth Fond But Not In Love Ancient Sins Warning Shot I Left My Blood On Your Bathroom Floor
Some copies had another track that I never found, and I've got an extra song (If I Don't Know By Now) tagged on the end that was a standalone between The EP and 0.008%.
And The Horrible Truth is on We Are The Undercurrents, Holding Hearts has New Houses on the B-Side.

Wow, never even heard of Fond But Not In Love (though I'm liking the Fitter Happier thievery!) or Ancient Sins, and only heard Warning Shot as a live version when they did a studio session on some radio show or other: my knowledge is severely lacking, it seems!

Warning Shot is one of my favourites.
I think they've sort of 'disowned' this a little though. It is just a demo!

Good to hear positive chat for Spring Offensive! They've just finished recording anew EP and it's being mastered etc. over the next month, very exciting times.

Excellent, feels like I've been waiting ages for this. The other CD is cool as well.
Funny it's gone up the same day as REVEREs!

After what feels like decades, their debut album has just arrived in my post: absolutely chuffed. On first listens, it is a truly fantastic debut, up there in The Dark Third's league, albeit still not quite in that stratospheric sphere of debut album greatness like The Music's eponymous debut or The Streets' Original Pirate Material. Some of the tracks - We Are The Undercurrents, I Can Feel His Heartbeats, Hopscotch Machine Gun Madness, You Cut Me Out and Our Bodies - are utterly world class and could happily stand toe-to-toe with any song you care to name. My only disappointments are the fact that the album only includes a very shortened version of the band's best song, She's Got A Shooter (however, apparently the song is only cut short because the band could not afford enough time in the studio to nail a version of the whole song that they were happy with - fair do's, I guess); and the newly recorded version of Holding Hearts, which is a lot slower and less energetic (and consequently worse) than the version of the song that they released as a single in 2008 - the new recording has messed with a track that was already perfect and didn't need anything else doing to it, IMO. Overall though, a pretty fabulous effort, and I'm happy that my hopes at the beginning of the year that this album would be fighting it out with We Were Exploding Anyway and PRR #3 as one of the best albums of 2010 have proved to be well-founded. I'd recommend this one to all on these forums - if you're inclined to have a listen you can find some streaming songs at: www.agenuinefreakshow.com/showscreen.php?site_id=182&screentype=folder&screenid=3353

I arrived home to my copy, though I've not listened yet. The bonus copy though, that's such a good idea I'm in actual awe of it. Gave mine away earlier edit: had a quick listen to the last tune. i know the problem with demos and things is that you get attached to them, but the old version of Warning Shot was much better. My only disappointments are the fact that the album only includes a very shortened version of the band's best song, She's Got A Shooter... www.youtube.com/agenuinefreakshow#p/u/1/ZRRgHP6j4j8!
