Tried asking Jamie what the band's official stance is but not heard back from him yet, so for the time being we'll have to continue to ask that people don't post links to the material. If people want to have a go at getting in touch with Jamie themselves, I think he is happy to respond to general stuff via his Twitter or his Formspring. Just remember to keep it polite and ensure that any queries are specific enough for him to (potentially, if he's in a position to do so) answer on the particular question of some of The Sunset Sound stuff. And try not to be too disappointed if he doesn't respond straight away/at all - Ryan has posted legitimate buying links to some of The Sunset Sound material, so the material is out there and we have to assume that the default position of the band is that we're not ok to share this stuff unless they specifically give their permission to do so... which they have no obligation at all to give unless they feel like it. Cheers.

I think that actually asking Jamie is needless for he was not involved into TSS. I just asked for I thought that you are closer to the band and will get respond earlier than any of us:] And I do agree that Jamie is willing to respond. I actually am in touch with him.

You're right, The Sunset Sound material isn't Jamie's to approve. But until we have word from someone who is able to do so (which may or may not come) then we can't answer for them. Some of the band members are very busy...they are, after all, recording an album and rehearsing for a gig at the moment and responding to e-mail isn't always their strong point.
As Lawrie said, until then, the links to obtain the material legitimately are available.

Providing there are ways to buy the material legitimately, I'm not sure why the band would/should approve the material to be given away for nothing, and I doubt the folks who run velocity recordings would be thrilled either.
My view on bootlegs has always been that if there is no current way to obtain the music you're after officially, then it's fair play for fans to share it between themselves at no charge. I don't think that really applies in this place, why not just support the guys at velocity and if there's material not included on those two singles, then a companion bootleg release seems reasonable.

I agree and was under the belief we were only seeking permission for things that are not available freely elsewhere.
We've made our stance on the sharing of material that can be bought quite clear: we don't condone it and it can't happen on these boards.
So...for now, I think I'll end my part of this with: if you want to obtain The Sunset Sound material, I recommend you buy what is officially available.

There are 2 songs that make me anxious: Sound of Free and The clearing. Do you know whether it's TSS or early PRR material?

Sound of free was recorded by TSS at some point but a PRR version is on the b-side to The Intention Craft with almost no changes, if any (Asleep... is the same deal).
PRR never released The Clearing, dunno if they recorded it, pretty sure whats out there is a Sunset Sound recording.

I've cobbled myself together a Realm Of The Divine bootleg, from various Youtube files. Along with that and the two Sunset Sound singles I'm only missing The Clearing.
The search goes on...

I had a brief email dialogue with Sid Siddle of Velocity Records in October 2006, just after I found and bought the Sunset Sound CDs (via the baldyslaphead discography, thanks, mate!). I was asking him if he had any old Sunset Sound promo material he might part with. He said he had almost nothing left, but he told me a couple of interesting facts about the band mutations after Sunset Sound (he had difficulty believing there could already be PRR completists) Before PRR, they were known as "Wow" (yep!) and also "The Gold Stars" -which way round, I know not. But then he said he had found a 3-track acetate (ie CDR) labelled as being by "Wow", and would I like to have that, as "it's only gathering dust in a drawer". Sid was gracious enough to just post it to me, after I'd almost bitten his hand off! The three tracks on it are: 1. Apprentice of the Universe (4:00) 2. Nimos & Tambos (4:00) 3. The Clearing (3:51) The first two tracks are identical to the early PRR recordings, so "Wow" were PRR in all but name, as Sid said. So, you could say it is both right & wrong to say that PRR never recorded "The Clearing" - they did, but were calling themselves Wow at the time - but after The Sunset Sound. There is no other info on the CD acetate that Sid sent me (ie nothing about personnel).

The Wow acetate was in a bare crystal bag envelope without any paper inserts. He also sent me a 5-track acetate of the sunset sound. Here's a scan of that: Attachments:
