Hi Gilthar- I think Lawrie already mentioned this in the Scala DVD thread; the word from the band is that the posting on this has been a little held up. There should be an update from the band soon, to let you know when you can expect this to arrive.

As I mentioned elsewhere I finally got the copy of the DVD yesterday in Berlin. I already watched it for the first time. I really enjoyed it one thing that disturbs me is fact that some cameras did not worked well while the strobe lights were on. But as I will watch it in the evening at better dvd player than I will make mine full opinion.

one thing that disturbs me is fact that some cameras did not worked well while the strobe lights were on. there's not a lot you can do about that really (other then not use strobes but that's no fun!), but i guess the DSLR they were using roaming at the front struggles with it a lot.

I still wait with opinion until I watch it on better stuff than my lap.

Really like the DVD after a quick run last night on a PC with pretty crappy speakers. I find the strobe "blackouts" much less distracting than the weird issues on the "Hoxton Tapes". And lights are so much better, camera work is really nice... NICE!

I think that Scala DVD cannot be compared to the Hoxton one. it is far, far better! After watching it 4 times yesterday evening the blackouts stopped to disturb me. Sound quality is amazing. I really enjoy it. Now I'm looking foward to see ItaliaWave/Heitare show

OMG! I'm just listening to (and watching) the Scala DVD for the first time at home. What can I say? Jon did an amazing job with the mix. There's a perfect balance between synths and guitars this time. All the details are very well preserved. Dynamics are great. Camera work, as I've already said before, is very good. It's not boring at all to watch this DVD. That strobe thingy turns out to be not annoying at all. Picture quality itself is really good, despite some compression artifacts. Would have loved to have an HD version, though... All in all... if you haven't done so already... ORDER THIS DVD!! ;D

Awesome DVD. As mhx says, the camera work is pretty awesome, although I have one gripe with the audio - it might just be me, or the cymbals, apart from the hi-hat, are very hard to hear at times above the rest of the mix.

Did you guys receive confirmation your orders had been sent? I haven't... Yes. Received a confirmation of the Italia Wave DVD being sent out last Monday, I think, and it arrived on Tuesday or Wednesday. Can't say for the Scala DVD, as I picked that one up in Berlin.

Mmmmh, didn't particularly pay attention to the cymbals, but I agree that they're not especially loud. Just listened to some songs again and I think they're pretty well audible, though probably more subtle than in other recordings. Even though I'm a big fan of good drum sound, I kinda prefer if they don't blow out my tympanum. ;D
