Yo!
On the one hand this topic is to see if there are any others (mostly directed at Germans) who are gonna attend Porcupine Tree + Oceansize in one of their shows in early October (Halle/Saale, Berlin, Bochum).
On the other hand, and this is where everyone may be able to help me, I yet have to decide whether to actually see them (in Bochum that is). 40 Euros + t-shirt and beverage is rather pricy... So have any of you ever seen PT and/or OS live? What's your view on their shows? Worth the cash?

So have any of you ever seen PT and/or OS live? What's your view on their shows? Worth the cash? I've seen PT four times last year (Paris, Nürnberg, Stuttgart, Glasgow) and really enjoyed every single gig. I can't make if for any of the gigs in Germany this year, but I'll see the London show in October. However, their shows are regarded by some to be too perfect and somehow "clinical", as there's not much interaction with the audience going on. While I can understand that view, it doesn't affect my appreciation of their performance. They usually play long sets and a good bunch of older stuff that is just awesome. I was lucky enough to see Russia On Ice a couple of times and even Stars Die at one gig. So, if you ask me, they're worth the cash. If you're unsure, get a copy of the Anesthetize DVD (you'll most probably stop listening to the studio albums after that one) and decide after seeing it.

If you're unsure, get a copy of the Anesthetize DVD (you'll most probably stop listening to the studio albums after that one) and decide after seeing it. That'd be a pity. I already dumped half my music collection after getting into PRR and King Crimson. But yeah, guess I'll either have a look at Anesthetize or some good old 'Tube clips. I'd really feel bad to miss out on barefoot Wilson and Gavin Harrison. EDIT: Well, I just decided that it's too much of a hassle to go to Bochum (and back!) in one night, especially for that price... so I'm rather gonna see Oceansize in Gebäude 9, Cologne and hope for PT to stop by somewhere near next year or so. Thanks for the advice though, mhx.
