I contacted Jonathan Cooke on last.fm, who had scrobbled a track called "Disconnect (Jon's Mix)" asking if he could send it over now the band were defunct. He finally got back to me and said no, saying it was a rough cut that Jon wouldn't want anyone to hear, but the key line of what he said was: "btw: I wouldn't give up on PRR just yet!"

Oooohhhhh, the big tease. Actually, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see them back in some context. A few years ago I said a teary farewell to Michael Saddler fronted Saga (yes, they did the whole last concert thing) and this year they're back with a new album and tour, same thing with Garbage, they split, and yet I've got their new album on pre-order. My guess is that they'll have a few years apart doing their own thing, but we'll see them together again in some guise. Possibly not under the PRR banner, but turning out top quality electro-rock tunes regardless. Well that's the hope anyway.

Regardless, it seems like a somewhat irresponsible thing to say... The band obviously split up for a reason, so its not really fair to hint that their may be a re-uniting so early.

Yeah, couldn't argue that either. I don't think anybody should be expecting to see much action on that front for at least five or so years... if ever. I wonder when we'll hear more about Chloe's new project though. This place could do with some news and tunes to discuss.

but the key line of what he said was: "btw: I wouldn't give up on PRR just yet!" I imagine at most he's refering to some new T-shirts going on sale or an old remix or two coming to light. The band were 100% sure there would be no reunion for the next few years. We can start getting excited again in 2017 maybe.

I just spotted the - now rather old - news, that Jon has signed a deal with Century media, and is recording an album for next year. With Chloe recording Flood's first album we should have some great new music to look forward to over the coming months/years. Obviously this place is very quiet these days, but is there any other news for future PRR related projects?

Yeah, I think it's just those two we're waiting on. Paul sounds like he's been having fun with Scroobius Pip, and Jamie's making a name in the Reading DJ world, but I don't think they've got plans to write original music atm. Although Jamie's toodar remix is rather excellent imo soundcloud.com/toodar-cassette-tapes/02-so-solid-gold-deathstar

Yeah, Jamie seems to be doing well with his Solid Gold Deathstar. Great name. I'll be curious to know if Jon's new thing is a solo album or a new band project and if it's going to be stylistically similar to PRR. If it's due to see a release next year, then it shouldn't be too long until the first details emerge. It's amazing how much PRR I still listen too. If I look at all the bands I've gotten into over the past year, it's painfully obvious I'm trying to fill a PRR shaped hole... not that many of them aren't excellent in their own right, but yeah, PRR just nailed the sound I love.

PRR just nailed the sound I love. This! And so far I haven't been able to find anything remotely similar to that sound. It's still way too quiet here. So, what next?

Oh well, better buy me a chopper and get a bleached blonde biker wifey and get down to some biker meets....I don't think.
