www.myspace.com/fieldsband Curious, does anyonme else listen to this band or hear this album? After about a month with it, it's not album of the year likely, but it is quite good. They do remind me a lot of PRR with the male/female vocal harmonies and crescendos and the vocal writing. Folk element as well, but I guess I'd say Fields have a stronger influence in that area. But I don't find their lead vocals or the vocal mix to be nearly as strong (among other things) as PRR. But that's not to say their vocals are bad. Does anyone know if the PRR members know this UK band? Have the 2 bands ever shared a bill or tour? I could easily see the fanbases crossing over.

I don't know if they've shared a bill or a tour, I don't think have off the top of my head, but they do get mentioned on the Mew forum fairly regularly so there's definitely some fan-base crossover there. The album is damn good though I know what you mean about the vocals; live they're a lot stronger, Thorunn's especially. If you get the chance to see them I'd definitely recommended it (I think they've been in the US touring recently). If you want to hear some miscellaneous demos and b-sides then you can download them from the band's own semi-official site, here.

RIP apparently they broke up. "Hollow Mountains" was supposed to come out in March, but their record label dropped them before it could. By all accounts it was recorded and mastered. Some of the demos on their myspace sounded promising enough. I hope somehow they decide to release Hollow Mountains on their own or something. www.last.fm/music/Fields

Aww no, that's a massive shame, they were a really good band and I was looking forward to hearing the second album. I still adore Everything Last Winter.
