Just saw this on MySpace, Superballs' Blog early hints from the studio suggest that album 2 will once again ..push the boundries.. this time drawing on the band’s electronic influences – Justice, Daft Punk, Soulwax, NIN, etc. resulting in a ..progressive.. hybrid of electronic/rock influences and their unique vocal harmonies."Guess Superball should know.... or maybe not Sounds.... nice, real nice...... And Band manager Jonathan Cooke’s delighted comment on the signing: "It was refreshing to find a situation that combines the artist commitment and enthusiasm of an indie with the ambition of a major. Signing a longer-term deal with SUPERBALL MUSIC for album 2 onwards was an easy decision to make!" SUPERBALL MUSIC’s label boss Thomas Waber is obviously proud of the latest addition to his roster: "I am very pleased to be able to announce the signing of Pure Reason Revolution to SUPERBALL MUSIC. It really shows where we are going with the label and that we are working with young, hungry and very modern and talented bands that fit in with the formula of what we set out to do!"

hehe, 'superballs'
anyway, all good. i think what we were expecting really. i'm much more excited knowing it, don't think another album in the same mold would've got me going again.
superball are pretty ace really, seem to be run by nice people and that. gald prr found a good label.

LOL I feel the same both about Superballs and the album direction. Real excited now, it's great that things fall into place - one by one. Just want a date and a tour (with a gig in Sweden) now - not beggin for much, am I PRR are still new to me so I could 'survive' the same stuff, but I prefer it this way.

Nice to have it officially confirmed by the label themselves. I know that the news has been effectively common knowledge for a bit now from some very reliable places, but there's nothing quite like getting a confirmation from either the band or the label themselves. Set in stone - wahoo! Re: the new album direction - I've said before that as long as they don't lose the harmonies and the excellent production values then I don't mind whether they stayed with the prog-tinged sound of The Dark Third, or if they go in a different direction, be it electronic based or not. The main thing I like about PRR is the way they blend (seamlessly, I may add) absolutely killer pop tunes/harmonies/melodies into alternative, non-'pop' songs. It's the best of both worlds: you get the hooks that claw their way into your brain, but there's still loads of depth to their songs and they're not shallow or forgettable. What we've heard so far (Deus Ex Machina, end of Golden Clothes etc) suggests that they'll continue to get the mix of catchiness and experimenting right, and they'll do it with an electronic sound - absolute gravy, in my view!

Oh, and the other thing I meant to say is that it's great that they've signed a longer term deal as well. That should hopefully give them all the security creative freedom they need to make the music that they want to make, and not ever have to rush out stuff they're not happy with... not that PRR have ever been a band you associate with rushing new songs out every few weeks!

Oh, and the other thing I meant to say is that it's great that they've signed a longer term deal as well. Can't agree more!! But are they really so slow or.....?? Remember I've only knew about PRR for 9 months. I've been reading old stuff, of cause, but still got a lot of catching up to do. 2006 album 2007 'mini-album' 2008 hopefully album?? If I'm right.... not that bad, eh?? It often takes time with people that like to 'play around' in the studio or the ones that are perfectionists. And PRR, or at least certain members, are both, I gather . When they 'finally' released the tracks they've been pretty awesome, though?? Worth waiting for or I'm a lucky new fan with this much activity in less than a year!! (sorry 'bout my English again, when I get excited (as a new album and a long term album deal will make me) all rules blow out of my head - actually it all went days ago. No chance of me writing neat like scat 1620) I give up, but I think most of you get my points even if you don't agree. I guess that most of us prefer time consuming quality work, to rushed out mass producing for the market... I know I do!!

yeah, I think the new album is totally different from any PRR you've heard before. Definately more Electronic (almost completely, from what I gather),
well I suppose we'll see for ourselves on saturday.

If Deus Ex Machina is any indication, I think the new songs are going to "rock" just as hard, as that song exudes some sense of anger along with a really great rhythm. So knowing that their currentsong-writing direction works really well, I'm excited about further experimentation.
Could we see ethereal electronic soundscapes (like the new NIN record "Ghosts") and really short/concise pop tunes that could receive radio play? Could Chloe Alper become the next Gwen Stephani? (haha - in the words of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, "I kid, I kid!")
Seriously, I'm totally optimistic.

Obsessive, moi? I guess I am yeah. But I don't really see how my obsession is illustrated in that particular comment you highlighted there.....
