. PRR are never anything less than warm to their fans whenever they are allowed the oppurtunity, I'm sorry you didn't get to experience it on your first go though. Hi Blondeambassador I think you may have misread me. The point I made was how the band are stand-offish to fans during the gig is in contrast to the warmth they show to fans after the gig (or at least that was my view based on last night). We seem to have the same point of view....I think! Ahhh yeah ok, no that makes much more sense! As I said, I can certainly understand your views about them onstage but I'm glad you got the same friendly experience off stage

Just as long as you didn't get pissed off by the guy who kept losing his balance thanks to the inexplicable raised bit at the front of the stage, 'cause that was me! Aha! So now I know what you look like Evening Just thought I'd throw in my tedious ramblings about the gig in Birmingham last night. Hi peeps! Wish you'd said you were going to Birmingham beforehand, I would've popped over and said hello - always like putting names to faces on the boards. Hope you all had a good night in Brum! (Oh, and hello and welcome to the forums to Stumpy as well, seeing as I haven't had a chance to say so since you registered earlier on! ;D) I also bought the signed drumskin that they had on sale at the merch stand there, and I've uploaded the pics of all 3 signed jobbys for people to have a gander at if they wish Nice But which signatures are which? Paul's and Chloe's are fairly obvious, but I've no idea about the other two. I think that on the drumskin photo that I posted then Jon is at 3 o'clock and Jamie is at 9 o'clock. Gotta work out how I'm gonna frame/mount that boy - the fact that it has a 3rd dimension makes it harder work than a poster/print etc! I totally agree with your opinion about Glasslights. AVOID THEM people. I was clapping just to be polite. I just hope that in Brighton and London they are going to have better supporting bands, otherwise I will bore myself to death. Thank you! I feel suitably vindicated: gold star for you! Posters were on sale last night, but I held back from getting one as they were a lot smaller than I'd anticipated - somewhere between A4 and A3 by guess-timate. The artwork was fine, the AVO cover art, which was just what I was looking for, but they were too small to be a decent option for me. Shame. Actually, those A3 posters are not for sale. They add one to every purchased t-shirt „while stock lasts“. Ah, fair enough. I was never going to buy one of the T-shirts but Andrea (tour manager/merch queen/chauffeur to the stars) said I could have one for £2 if I wanted one when I asked about them, but I decided to give it a miss in the end for the small print size reasons I mentioned. I guess it'll probably be a case of playing it by ear from show to show with those posters for the rest of the tour.

Just got back from the Bristol gig: wow! Easily one of the best gigs I've been to. Sound was pretty good overall: crystal clear for the synth-based songs, but it got a bit mushy in some of the heavier guitar parts. (I was standing right underneath the speakers though). Vocals were great as well; I wasn't expecting too much after seeing the Rockpalast gig (must have been an off-day!), but the harmonies really sounded good (even though they cut off the last part of Requiem)
I thought the crowd were very appreciative; most people were moving in the first few rows that I could see. Immediate clapping for the encore at the end. Obviously, wished the set had been longer but 1 hour 15 isn't bad.
Got everything signed (apart from Jamie! Couldn't find him) and had a nice chat with Chloe. I think it's really great of the band to hang around for a bit afterwards; I hope they still do when they get bigger.
Now I'm gonna work out the logistics of getting to London and back on Tuesday...

I do regret not sticking around afterwards now, actually. I've met them once, but that was before I was a fan, so I don't really count that...
Ah well, next time.

Jeez! Bring on tomorrow night already! Tomorrow?! Bring on TONIGHT in Brighton ;D I have a feeling this is going to be a quiet one... was Brum quiet too? A mate who said he went said it was 'sparse' at best

A mate who said he went said it was 'sparse' at best Have a great time...I think it might be alright, the South coast tend to be quite big on PRR from what I've heard before. One more sleep for me to go...London is going to be immense, I can sense it now...

Jeez! Bring on tomorrow night already! Tomorrow?! Bring on TONIGHT in Brighton ;D I have a feeling this is going to be a quiet one... was Brum quiet too? A mate who said he went said it was 'sparse' at best From the front of the crowd, Birmingham looked pretty full to me. Didn't properly fill out until PRR came on (probably due to Glasslights' sucking donkey balls immediately beforehand!), but even though it wasn't Water Rats-rammed, I genuinely wouldn't have called it as 'sparse' by any stretch of semantics/the imagination. Can't explain the discrepancy between mine and your friend's opinion of that, to be honest...

Brighton was a small turnout; I reckon there must've been around 50 or 60 people in there. Jon and Jamie both told me afterwards that it was the 'quietest' show of the tour so far, a bit of a 'weird one'. Despite the turnout, it was a great show and the band played really well. The crowd were enthusiastic too, and gave a good response, more so (it has to be said) for the older material though. I decided to turn up later, and managed to have a chat with Jamie outside about the shows, guitars and all sorts. Really nice bloke, very friendly and chatty. Got my first autograph on the CD I brought along, and headed inside. Picked up a t-shirt on the merch stool, showed my CD and got a copy of the promo CD too; didn't expect there to be any left at 8.30pm. Managed to collar Jon for his scribble on my CD; 2 down, 2 to go! Caught The Domino State who again impressed me. I bought their ep after seeing them support PRR at Cargo in November last year, and they delivered another short, punchy set of guitar-drone driven indie. I wandered around after TDS's set, as they set PRR's gear up, checking out Jamie's busy pedalboard and Jon's cool new Mesa Boogie amp. Had a nice surprise when Joanna (aka "guziec") from this very board came and introduced herself to me. So we chatted about the shows, the new album, PRR in general, and then onto Blackfield and Porcupine Tree. It was great to meet you Joanna, thanks for saying hello! PRR came on around 9.30-ish I guess, and straight away it was evident that the live sound has improved vastly. OK, the Cargo show had a much better sound, but it was really great to hear them with a decent sound in a small venue. My last small venue PRR gig was The Waterats about a year ago, and the sound was pretty poor; far too loud and distorted, the band not hearing themselves etc. This was fantastic, and it seems consistently good for this entire tour so far. Long may it continue. We got best part of 70 mins I think, with an encore too. The small crowd were very appreciative I thought; Joanna thought more so than the Brum gig which she attended. The setlist had no changes as far as I am aware, not sure on the order though, so won't bother cutting and pasting someone else's setlist. The new songs sounded much harsher and raw-er live than on the album, which I enjoyed. It took a little while for the second half of the album to work for me but the new tracks live, with added guitars; the live drums, was really enlightening for me. Like I mentioned earlier, the loudest roars from the crowd came for TDT material, although DEM went down a storm too. Chloe and Jon were running for a train up to London after the gig apparently (interviews in London this morning I think), so there was limited chances to complete my set of autographs on my CD... but I managed it. Nabbed Paul as he was heading out to chat to some mates; told him about the vastly improved live sound, and he put it all down to their new engineer. Spoke to Jon and Jamie again briefly, where they said it was a bit of a 'weird one' with the small turnout, but enjoyed the gig nonetheless. Completed my set of scribbles with Chloe's, who stopped to have a chat; lovely girl too, in fact the whole band are really pleasant and friendly. Took a bunch of photos, a few of which I've linked in below. I also shot a 2 minute movie of TBAOM, which I'll upload to YouTube and link to later on tonight.
