Jon's piano (well, keyboard with a piano sound...) refused to work, I think.

Yep, it refused to cooperate just before AVO. Plus a couple of failing microphone stands and visuals that disappeared suddenly.

I won't say anything more, because as a non-native English speaker I wouldn't do it as well as jamesa will 1. There is absolutely nothing wrong with your English, and it was a pleasure chatting with you ! 2. I had better make sure this turns into a good review or it's going to fall short of all these expectations - it will be up before the end of today (not legally binding). If someone could just confirm the setlist...please ;D

Er, given my severely rubbish powers of recollection, this is my best guess (everyone else, feel free to jump in and correct my mistakes!): 1. Les Malheurs 2. Keep Me Sane/Insane 3. Apogee 4. Deus 5. The Twynycn/Trembling Willows 6. Victorious Cupid 7. The Gloaming 8. Ambassadors 9. AVO ---Encore--- 10. Voices In Winter/In The Realms Of The Divine 11. Arrival/The Intention Craft Don't take that as gospel, obviously!

That's what I thought it was, but I had a feeling they had slipped another song in - I got confused during a technical interlude ;D

Lawrie, I think Cupid and Willows may have been the other way round. I'm unsure as well though! As for the performance, now that I have time to reflect: Amazing! Best time I've ever seen them was deffo Dingwalls, even with technical problems (Nothing on Cargo!). Anyway, wouldn't be a PRR gig if you didn't have Jon delicately intoning "Music down, Vox up" between tracks 1 and 2! A slightly dancey Ambassadors (Jamie's guitar seemed v.discoey) was a surprise highlight as I thought I was bored of that song by now. The vocoded album title thing at the beginning was also cool, potentially more so than the prisoner quote before most other gigs. Gloaming was lovely and resulted in all my friends freaking out Jamie's gf (I realised I was stageside between her and Jamie so I moved [obviously only after a few song - I'm not that polite!] at gloaming - you have to be able to dance to that anyway - which was supposed to give her space. Unfortunately, my loveably insane friend went to town on his moves. They were amazing, she was terrified.). The only minor gripe was VIW. They ALWAYS play it and it's by far my least favourite of their songs. OK, maybe Sound Of Free... You could definitely pop in Borgens and In Aurelia instead. In fact, the Cargo encore!
Gloaming was lovely
But Gloaming was broken - or at least it seemed that way to me. Jon wasn't able to get the bass working properly, but he soldiered on (bless 'im)

Haha, even I noticed your friend and I was at quite a distance, he was raving somewhat intensely and manically...good times. Like I said though, cant have a go at people for enjoying themselves to the music at a gig!

Like I said though, cant have a go at people for enjoying themselves to the music at a gig! Well, sometimes they can be a little bit dangerous. In Water Rats some girl standing just behind me started a wild moshing during Trembling Willows, pushing and hitting everyone around. Finally, she simply knocked me down, but I managed to turn around really quickly and gracefully sit on the stage instead of falling on it. It must have been a really interesting view Of course, this small incident didn't stop her from continuing this activity. This time I managed to avoid any accidents, despite having a really enthusiastic fan on my two o'clock. That's what I call enjoying the show without spoiling the fun for others. Enjoy it as much as you can, but don't hurt anyone!

Great stuff James, albeit I have no idea where you find the time to write a review that detailed! Cheers for sharing!

Many thanks, James. I can almost hear all the songs you described I've just bought Of the I from iTunes. Really good stuff, especially Cathexis. This slower part starting from 4:40 is really addictive.

Guys and girls, thank you all for your very kind comments - it really makes me want to continue writing the reviews, and to continue writing them in that style.
