The venue itself was OK but a bit...wierd. They were over an hour late opening the doors- did not appreciate standing in the cold rain for 15 minutes! There were support bands in a tiny room nextdoor AND in the wider more club-like room where PRR played. Security were also a bit up their own backsides, it has to be said and were very keen to kick people out, meaning people who had waited for the signing didn't get their chance, which I think was ridiculous of them seeing as on the website they venue had advertised it as open til 2am! Didn't bother me so much but still, I have a real dislike for the shouting type of security yelling 'CAN YOU ALL MAKE YOUR WAY OUT' the second the band put down their guitars. Yea my friends couldn't get in the venue at first because the security wanted I.D. so my friends had to go all the way back to runcorn and a few to wigan to get their I.D. and then they got in. It's a good job PRR were late coming on they got back in time. Didn't notice security telling us to leave the venue after because we spoke to band after and got cds signed and we wasn't rushing out after. Great gig tho, it was my first time seeing them and i wasn't let down. My ears are hurting now tho. I got my free DEM single and i didn't have to show proof i already bought the album, i said i can got on internet to show her my e-mail but she couldn't be bothered waiting. And i have bought it, it came in the post today, just watching the DVD now, great. ;D

So, York last night. Not the best turn-out I've seen but a very appreciative crowd. Fibbers is a nice little venue, very strange and deep stage but it worked, PRR had plenty of space for themselves and all their equipment. They really are on such good form, I can't quite explain it...there were a few bits and bobs like their sound wasn't what they wanted it to be on stage but you would hardly have noticed, and thats what I mean about their form. Anyone who's been following them for a while knows they've had their ups and downs and sound problems can knock out a perfectly good gig for them but now, it doesn't, they finally seem to have sorted out all those problems. They are the tightest I've seen them possibly ever...their hard work is all very much paying off on stage. I sometimes wonder if maybe the visuals are entirely worth their while as they seem to be the constant problem but aside from that, spot on, once again- bring on Leeds!
I've also decided Deus is my favourite PRR live track these days, closely followed by Apogee. I might have to admit that, after 24 times, Ambassadors is starting to get a little less exciting for me (as I think thats the only track that I've literally seen played all 24 times!) but its still brilliant and always goes down well with the crowd.

Nay, not sofar I'm afraid which means I doubt it will be. Real shame that though, they don't seem to like playing their more 'chilled out' ones live very much.

Eh, the set list works as it is. Don't fix what isn't broken, I suppose. Amongst the other songs, Bloodless could end up lost and bring the mood down.
The set list, I realised is essentially the same as Cargo. Both needed more Golden Clothes tbh (I deem hearing this live as a distinct NEED.)

Mmm, I do see what you mean but there's nothing wrong with a chilled out moment or two in a set and I would love to hear Bloodless live one day. More than I would Bullits Dominae personally but I think I'm on my own on that one. It wouldn't bring the mood down anymore than, say, the start of Ambassadors or Voices In Winter does. Although I do love the current set, don't get me wrong, I still think it could be slightly longer...I know, I'm a hard taskmaster but they do have the material now.

You are very nearly definitely on your own with the Bloodless vs Bullits, BA! Not that Bloodless isn't brilliant, but it's just the campaign for live Bullitts has been so long and so fruitless! (Although I have to say, I would swap a live Bullitts for a live full-band Goshens or a full-length Golden Clothes: maybe not quite so in with popular opinion there!) Of the current set, which I think is really good looking at people's listing of it on paper, the only one I'd chop is VIW/ITROTD for a swap with either another newbie like Bloodless, or (ruling out unprecedented ones like Bullitts) an Apprentice + Nimos double bill to fit in the same slot. But yeah, now the band have two albums, I reckon it wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility to up the setlist by, say, 2 songs or so each night.

To be honest, i'd be happy if TBAOM was shaved down to just the vocal parts, if it meant fitting in another song. You're also spot on about VIW, it is just as slow in tempo, but I guess you can counter-argue that ITROTD salvages it. I'd have been happy for a bit of Borgens and In Aurélia. I was honestly surprised they didn't play IA, actually.

Leeds last night and what a difference from Reading! Great little venue, with a lively atmosphere and an encore! Thoroughly enjoyed it and should get some pics up over the weekend.
What really surprised me was how much tighter the band sounded. Most of the new tracks sounded so much better than last Thursday at Reading (not that I thought there was anything wrong with them at Reading.) What a difference a week of live playing makes!

Nice one, Neil! I'm really encouraged to hear that, by most accounts, the band seem to be getting better with every show, it's ramping up my anticipation for my first stop on the tour at Birmingham tomorrow!

Leeds was absolutely great, very tight set and I would say cockpit room 2 was a lovely place for them to play with where they're at now, it's a good venue for them...shame that being in the front row was actually a little in front of the speakers at this one, so I got alot of Jamie and Paul in my ears and not so much of the rest! But thats my own fault for where I choose to stand. Bit of a change to the set list this time: Les Malheurs Keep Me Sane/Insane Apogee Deus Ex Machina Victorious Cupid Twyncyn/Trembling Willows Gloaming BAOM AVO
So basically they've added Keep me Sane and moved Ambassadors (for a short while, I though they'd cut it, I nearly went into shock!) I'm not sure I like Ambassadors before AVO as much as I liked Gloaming before it but Keep me Sane sounded great live, for the little almost filler track it is on the album. I'm sad now...I have a whole 5 days to wait til London! (WAS toying with driving to either Notts or Brum but really, other aspects of my life, like seeing my friends, need a little bit of my time I feel!)

Hmmm, if there's any fluidity in the setlist, then the band can expect to hear lots of "PLAY NIMOS!" between the songs from me in Birmingham, I think...
