where did you get this information? just for my own curiosity. I can answer that one...the band have said things of the sort in several interviews over the years- they wrote all the tracks originally for the album, then decided to release the EP and didn't want to duplicate everything off Cautionary Tales for The Dark Third so changed their original plans for a track listing. That's also why they changed the track lisiting between UK/US release, because Cautionary Tales hadn't been released in the States. Bingo. Although I think less decided to release the EP themselves and more were 'asked' to do it.

actually, saying that, it could well end up on Album number 2... Having spoken to someone very close to the band, I can confirm that TIC is 99% certain to be on............... There's a turn up

I agree really. It'd be a real shame.
Hopefully it's some kind of bonus track, which is what I would guess at to be honest.

Yeah, they need stuff for the special release - the same thing they were doing the filming for at the Cargo. In fact, if TIC does make it on any of the releases, I would guess it would be a 'live at the Cargo' version.
But I would like to hear a house version. Not on the main album, of course....

it's an old song..I dunno..I could see it as some kind of b-side maybe...or on a vinyl..the band are into vinyl and more bands are now issuing their work on that format.

I agree, it would be very odd if a song as old as The Intention Craft was included on the new album.

I think I should bring some knowledge to the table now...
A deus ex machina is usually the penultimate or final event in a Greek tragedy - and yet here we have it halfway through our album. This is quite odd indeed.
And on the whole "epic" idea - isn't the Gloaming an epic enough song for any of you?

As I say, I think the whole thing's pretty epic, as was tdt.
As for Deus, in the technical dramatic sense of a "deus ex machina", the Greeks may have used it at the end, but there's nothing inherent in this kind of plot technique that means it has to be at the end. A deus ex machina is simply an unexpected thing that occurs to change the course of events in a surprising way - this can happen at any time.
Plus there's no reason why we should expect the song "Deus Ex Machina" to work as an actual deus ex machina in the album's "plot". It's just the title - a song about a deus ex machina, or perhaps the concept as a whole: it's not a description of the song's function within the album. Otherwise track one would be "intro" and the last track would be "finisher" or something.

Based on only the released material (Gloaming, Victorious Cupid, Deus Ex Machina, the sampler) We can guess that it will be a concept album in which some sort of main character psychologically evolves through different concepts of love (simple love, pure lust, hate, despair, etc...)

I guess while I believe they make sense, or at least to some extent, I always considered TDT to me more 'musings on a bit of a theme' than a concept album and thats where I see AVO going as well, musings perhaps on the theme of love but not explicitly any kind of story per se.

I'm 100% certain the lyrics on AVO will make much more sense than the lyrics on TDT. EDIT: Not that they have to make sense to be awesome...
