Hi all,

I thought it’s about time I came on here and said hi and introduced myself properly....

We realise that we’ve been neglecting you guys and even thou we’re putting up some mail-outs and stuff on the myspace this week (which are aimed more at our new fans) I thought I’d better come on here and thank you guys personally for sticking with us this year, its been a tough one!

First of all I’d like to report that everything in camp PRR it good. Everyone is on top form and we’re really excited about the sounds that are being bounced around the walls of our little studio. We really can’t wait to see what 2008 holds for us, we have high hopes and big ambition for the New Year! ;D

Like Jonathan says (I see you’ve posted a letter from Jonathan up on here) we have had a year of some of the best highs, (which include two unbelievable European tours) but unfortunately we’ve had some of the worst luck too, it’s been one hell of a roller coaster! There is a lot I can’t say because yes there are on-going legal issues, which we’re all very bored of now, but we just have to follow it thru until its done and dusted. The good thing is that it’s no longer holding us back; we’re fighting fit and stronger than ever!

Now you may be thinking…. ‘Why is the album taking so long!?’….. Well as you all know we’re not a simple band. We ‘don’t do’ 3 minute pop tunes. We can’t just thrash out the numbers. It takes time to nurture, create, shape, and develop and to satisfy our creativity. Please be patient, it is on its way.

‘Why has there been no video or tour diary’s from the Porcupine Tree tour?’

The PT tour was an absolutely amazing experience; it was great getting to know those guys and learning so much from them. The crowds where just over whelming and seeing so much of Europe was a real treat. But... we’d flown over night from the USA after playing Nearfest, a tour bus picked us up from Heathrow at 6am, and then we drove to Holland and played the first show that night, ouch!. From then on it was full on all the way! When we came back it took everyone a while to recover from the tour and just when we regrouped we got hit with a load of the crap we keep mentioning and we thought it best just to take refuge in the studio, so we’re really sorry for the lack of tour story’s.

I’ve heard there is some live performance footage somewhere of the last night where Gavin (Harrison/PT drummer) joined us on stage for Golden Clothes, if I track it down then I’ll post it up ASAP.

Nice one, Paul, and kudos for taking the time to post on here as well as the upcoming Myspace bulletins. Good to know everyone on Team PRR is raring to go again, and really looking forward to whatever the new year brings for the band. Best of luck with the new stuff!

PS - oh, and there is nothing wrong with '3 minute pop tunes': there's a little one called Nimos & Tambos that I think is pretty sweet... ;D

Great to hear from you, very much appreciated. Just one little request further: could you possibly give some sort of a hint about the time frame we're talking about here? Like will we be seeing new material in weeks months or years??

nice to hear all is good paul, pray tell, are these legal wranglings of your own making? and will there still be enough money left when they are all over and the lawyers are all payed off to come and tour? manchester would be good...

As has been mooted on other threads, Paul is hardly going to enter into a dialogue via this forum, so posing these questions is pretty pointless. As has already been decided, we'll just sit and wait till the new year to see what happens.
HOWEVER...I am intrigued by Harkins' question. Nobody has mentioned lawyers and the like so far, and the whole air of the question has a certain 'insider' incisiveness about it. All seems a bit sinister to me, or am I just paranoid?
...And I've just broken my own rule about not posting till the new year. Still I can take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy Xmas

just paranoid mate... i'd assume legal problems would involve lawyers...and you can't be telling me that nobody has mentioned legal problems!! so who exactly are these legal problems with? i can only assume it is sony/bmg, following on from the band getting the chop? taking on a major corporation like that is bound to get costly and messy.... all i'm saying is make sure that they leave a bit left over to come and tour, and see the fans who have stood by them through this period in the widerness....

Only if they play to full venues and sell loads of merch. Touring without record company support is a dangerous business and can lose money.

Yeah but surely the raeson bands do it is to attract more attention, fans etc, and thus it is normally economically useful in the longrun...
