Our humble offerings.....

It's time to kick up your feet and substitute mince pies for end of
year round up pies. In keeping with the festive spirit, we have 3
gifts to rival gold, frankincense, and even myrrh. An exclusive
re-edit of 'Bright Ambassadors' will be yours to put up baubles to, our previous
Christmas special "Gaudete" gives you the perfect stocking and turkey
stuffing backdrop, whilst a special accapella version of 'Intention
Craft' is guaranteed to get you over those post-Yule blues. Moving
away from Christmas at last (and we're not even halfway through
December...), I can report back from a fantastic and action-packed
summer. After heading over to the States to play four shows, Boston,
New York and Philly before the wonderful NEARfest, which was filmed
for a possible DVD release next year, we were filled to the brim with
enthusiasm and drive to play our socks off. It was in this very state
that we found ourselves on tour in Europe with the wonderful Porcupine
Tree. This was a fantastic and inspiring experience for every one of
us; so much so that we selfishly retreated away from updating our fans
and into the studio straight afterwards to get going on the new album. The flip side to suddenly
gaining such a huge creative urge provides us with the seemingly
flimsy excuse for not updating you before: we have simply been so
involved and excited that we selfishly expected you to wait around.

I hope that our humble offerings will suffice to express our gratitude
for your patience and provide you with enough of a time filler between now and
January when we will be teasing you with some little tasters of what's to come and give you a small glimpse at our homely little studio.

Shame the Bright Ambassadors edit's not there. The other two we heard two (??) years ago now!

Good stuff, any news is good news. Fair play to all of that. I know Guadete and the acapella Intention Craft are oldies, but I don't have permanent mp3s of those boys, so it's good to hear them again. And a new TBAOM will be nice, wonder if it will condense all the singing parts of the song down into a nice radio-friendly pop song, or whether it will expand into previously unseen improvs and jam sessions which result in a brand new 30 minute epic...?

DVD is not dead in the water yet, it seems: I'll have some of that! If any band members stop by to read this thread: please, PLEASE release a DVD - it would be as good, nay, better than Spurs signing a decent defender!

Hints of new material is always good news as well. In fact, the whole bulletin has just left me in very good spirits: here's hoping that PRR really get back on track in 2008 - I genuinely think they (and The Music) are one of the bands with the most unfulfilled potential I have ever seen, and if they can make strides towards being the band we know they can be, then we're all in for a fantastic ride! Woo, and indeed, hoo!




PS - Also, is it just me, or [beautiful as it is] does everyone's mind automatically think of Alan Partridge saying "Listen to this, Jill, it'll blow your socks off!" when they hear the PRR acapella Guadete?

Hmm...yes, wikipedia now reads "Speculation of their demise or that they no longer perform as a band have been exaggerated and 2008 will see new releases from March onwards despite claims on the unofficial ProBoard forum that "their next release has been put back indefinitely, their management blaming 'ill luck' for the postponement"; their management have said this is untrue."

I wonder where they got 'March' from, I don't remember any of the bulletins mentioning anything as specific as that. Indeed Chloe says we'll be seeing stuff by January...

Anyways despite the disappointment of the Bright Ambassadors edit, which is only changed in its length and nothing else, I did enjoy the other tracks (being a reasonably new PRR obsessive I haven't heard them before), especially Gaudete, which they sing beautifully. Thanks guys if you're reading this. Still looking forward to more substancial releases soon!

So, how long 'till someone points out the pronunciation in Gaudete is wrong?

Looks like you just did! I have no idea how it should be pronounced, my entire knowledge of the song comes from the first series of I'm Alan Partridge...

No, it's pronounced right. It's a Latin word, and therefore every vowel is pronounced. ( Gow-day-tay). Literally it means '[everybody]rejoice' The rest is in latin too but I can't decipher it.

I didn't mean that word specifically, but every year someone mentions that fact they don't pronounce parts of the song right...? I wouldn't know, just been told a lot.

If I can attempt a translation (though obviously I can't hope to be as good as harkins):

Forget Gaudete, I'm still waiting for someone to tell me who is or what's the meaning of the following words: "Bullitts", "Goshen" and "Borgens Vor"...

Well bullitts is probably just an archaic/misspelled form of bullets (which would make sense cos it would then be 'bullets of the woman' i.e. bullets of love), goshen I think is a town in America, though it might be something else too, and borgens vor is probably Latin for something...Yeah agreed I'd like to know too.
