"Bullitts" Dave Gilmour's band before Pink Floyd was called Bullitt - it could be as simple as that.
"Goshen" No idea!
"Borgens Vor" Was just something Jon misheard in conversation with his mates, but liked the sound of.......no Latin in that one!

This is all good news! Anyone know who edited the band's Wiki entry to read like they've split up? Read's in a similar style to some of the posts around here... The main part of that wiki article is a right mess, it reads like an incoherent recent history of the band! The speculative bit at the end has got to go too. Anyone up for rewriting the article?

yeah, I reckon John's definitely onto something there...Jon (without an h) is certainly interested in 'Asiatic' things, and Gerard de Nerval (which as far as I can see is Jon's main source of inspiration) goes on about it the whole time. Classic obscure reference...
Although the Bullitts thing may be a refernce to Gilmour, I think it's also intended to have the sense of bullets as well, since 'dominae' litterally means 'of the mistress/woman' so it would make sense as a poetic description of love.
And as for rewriting wikipedia, I don't think I dare take on a task of such importance; the band's fate hinges on it! (or not...)

Also: just seen the latest bulletin. As far as I can tell the 'small gift' is just a picture of some snowflakes over American Gothic...or am I missing something? Cool as the picture is, that is a pretty cheap gift, right?

That's what I was thinking...! A decent download of Guadete would be nice, we've only ever had streams.

Has anyone else read the relatively recent interview on 'That's right bit ch!'? Slightly tacky, but some good bits. I wish they'd answered the question about the myspace quote fuller, I've always wondered what that is about. Anyways it's here if you wanna look(about halfway down the page): www.thatsrightbit ch.org/index.php?categotyid=8 (except without the gap between the bit and the ch which I put in because for some reason ProBoards changes the word b-i-t-c-h into 'pregnant dog' automatically. Who's responsible for that little quirk?)

too right about wiki, it really needs sorting out... however, it would seem as if the last paragraph was added (edited) by Jonathan Cooke (PRR manager).... at least we can now expect an album in march! officially.... as for the interview, it's not one of their best, i don't know who did it (although it reads a bit like jamie) but i did chortle a bit when i read this.... I think flaws and imperfections lend rather than take away from music. It adds familiarity, as opposed to the distance generated by 'flawless', over-produced musical acts. An extreme example, veering away from the 'popular', is Jewish and Gypsy music, which is also full of errors according to 'the book', it's moving to the point of being impeccable, paradoxically. When a voice breaks, or a singer runs out of breath, or a note isn't quite reached; that's when music becomes more obtainable and, at once, more beautiful. Example of this are.... Firstly, PRR is 'over-produced'... it's one of the cleanest albums i ever heard, and i think that none of the band would deny this, infact, i think they strived for it! Secondly, i know which book this paragraph is copied from, almost word for word.... the sercret to creativity is knowing how to hide your sources guys.... cheats....

I think we all agree that the band is moving away from the 'over-produced' music of the past into a more industrial phase, so maybe that's the intended meaning here. Besides, you pay less in producer's fees if you can get your public to accept it. However, we must take Harkins to task here...."NAME THAT BOOK"..........

I don't know if i should tell you all the source, and to be fair, it's only the bit about gypsy music that is plagerised.... Sure, I accept that the band is moving in a new direction (although to be fair, evidence for this is very scarce - VC would appear to be in the old vein of PRR, and although Deus... is more industrial by the sounds of things, all we have to go on is a poor quality video, taken on a polish camcorder (I think they still use VHS), with 8-bit sound - a concotion that could make even the most polished of bands sound industrial) but one thing that I always remember from interviews with Jon is his admissions that he strives for clean sounds, he's a perfectionist in his own words, so this whole paragraph seems to contradict that. Basically, it's a poor interview.... clearly written, not done face to face, with too much research.... I've met the guys several times (Paul excluded) and I have never heard any of them use language like this....

Yeah the interview is poor, and yeah that paragraph did make me laugh too, for the same reasons. Is that really what they mean by 'we're all dirty dogs beneath the skin'?
But come on harkins, what could possibly be wrong with naming the source? I already know they plagerise off of Gerard de Nerval...all great artists borrow from those who came before them. It's not like they can be sued for using a few phrases from someone else in some tacky interview...

Too worn out from shopping/wrapping/drinking to make any intelligent input except to wish all PRR lovers a very happy christmas, should they celebrate that kinda thing! (Go on, buy someone 'The Dark Third'...doesn't matter if they will like it or not!!)

not sure if it's really worth the bump, but Jamie said that they'll be putting Gaudete up again this week.

Seems they went for Option A on The Bright Ambassadors Of Morning edit then... I don't think I ever heard this.
