Just curious, something that hasn't been discussed sofar on this board I don't think... I had an ex bring round CTFTB once and played it to me and I told him it was pretentious shite and the songs were too long so put on Franz Ferdinand instead... Within a couple of weeks I'd seen the light, grown up and was begging him to come to a gig at the Barfly with me!

Saw them supporting Hope Of The States at the Astoria back in, er, 2004 maybe. There was a big screen above the stage that people could text messages to and get them up on the screen, and the band and their families must have had big phone bills that month, because the words Pure Reason Revolution kept flashing up on the screen over and over again! I didn't realise it was the name of the support band until I got home and searched for who the supports were: d'oh! I didn't know any of the songs at that point, but I very clearly remembered the tunes and when I eventually found out titles it turned out that they'd played Bright Ambassadors, Apprentice, and Nimos & Tambos. Have been hooked on those sweet, sweet melodies ever since that HOTS gig!

Mate of mine happened to put Bright Ambassadors on a playlist he gave me. Bought the album soon afterwards and was blown away.

Through my boyfriend who is from Poland (where they have lots of fans) and had been raving about them for a while and had a huge photo of Chloe on his wall which he refused to take down ! I went to see what all the fuss was about at the mean fiddler last year and have been hooked ever since. Late starter, i know!!!

OK, I have a PRR story which is relatively interesting that I've been meaning to tell on this board. It's not related to anything, but I didn't think it merited it's own thread:
Basically, about a month or so back a guy I know who's in an (slightly tacky) indie band asked if I knew anyone who was any good at designing album artwork. Naturally, I suggested Chloe and gave him a link to her myspace. That was the last I heard of it for a few weeks, but then when I saw him about a week ago he told me that his band's singer had actually got in touch with Chloe and arranged to do something with her. But guess what. The singer stood her up. Stood up Chloe Alper. He didn't go to the meeting with her. I was infuriated at this lack of respect when my mate told me, but fortunately he's since left the offending band! So that's alright. Many apologies to Chloe if she reads this.

Haha, TDF, a particular phrase in that story made me laugh! "The singer stood her up. Stood up Chloe Alper." Love the use of the second short sentence to really punch the point home! And yes, you are right, that is very bad behaviour and totally out of line, but I wonder whether you'd have typed that same phrase if Chloe wasn't the one doing the artwork and you had to type, "Stood up Jon Courtney/Jamie Wilcox/Paul Glover." ;D Just joshin' with you, pal, but it does seem to me that most male members of this forum appreciate the aesthetics of Ms Alper every bit as much as her music! Chloe is one *quarter* of PRR, chaps... Still chuckling, scat1620

Aherm...yes...I was wondering how long it would take for someone to bring up this particular subject...actually "the aesthetics of Ms Alper" have been quite useful for introducing other (male) friends of mine to the band, I've found. However, for me they remain very firmly a...shall we say...additional bonus. As has been the hotly debated subject of another thread, I firmly believe in Jon's own genius and Jamie and Paul are also great just for being in the band really, and being great musicians generally.

I read about the band on another message board it may have been Porcupine Tree's).
I went to the link to their music on YouTube and was immediately hooked. I bought the album the next day.
I hope the new album is released in March.

"but it does seem to me that most male members of this forum appreciate the aesthetics of Ms Alper every bit as much as her music! Chloe is one *quarter* of PRR, chaps..." Male members.... although it kind of was Chloes aesthetics that got me into PRR (indirectly )
