Oh yeah, Paul. I was impressed. Granted he wasn't up front in the mix but he sounded like (I couldn't really see him) he was holding his own against the beats nicely. There was a bit where he whacked his floor toms to bring everyone in (like Oceansize Unfamiliar if you know that) which sounded phat. Yeah that's right, I did a ph. How cool am I!

I had mixed feelings about last night...
I thought the band played pretty well, there was alot on the backing track, but other than that they played a stellar set. certainly one of their best sets I would say. very much helped by the crowd being really up for it!
Gloaming was a good addition to the set, although it did seem to last forever.
My one major gripe is that the venue was way oversubscribed which got a bit uncomfortable.
I would've enjoyed the set more if there were less idiots there too. there was a couple who spent the entire show making out with each other who were stood next to two people who just didn't stop talking to each other, which really fucked me off.
The sound was quite shit, but it wasn't the venue's sound guy, it's the guy PRR have been using for a while now,but to be fair, the room is kind of hard to get a good sound out of.
all in all, a pretty good evening I would say.

My one major gripe is that the venue was way oversubscribed which got a bit uncomfortable. Amen to that! Luckily, as me and my mates were right at the front it didn't matter too much during the set, but even in the build-up (when they had the back room shut for the sound checks) and also straight after the set finished, the place did seem like it was running at double capacity. I liked the sound mix and didn't have any idiots near me, but that's probably just due to being in a different place. Hope it didn't spoil your night too much.

What an awesome night! I mean, there isn't that much more I need to add to what people have already said...Gloaming sounds promising...needs work obviously, needs the lone guitar turning up in the mix I reckon but I can see how recorded and mixed it is gonna sound amazing, traditionally PRR in length as well, must be well over 5 minutes! The rest of the set showed the band was on form, enthusiastic and looked like they were really enjoying themselves. Almost the same set as the European tour...
Aurelia Intro In Aurelia Borgens Vor Deus Ambassadors Victorious Cupid Voices In Winter Twyncyn Golden Disco Gloaming ---- Nimos & Tambos Intention Craft
Was lovely to have a nice lively group of us at the front, I didn't feel like the lone lunatic going mental anymore which was nice!! Great to see so much support for them, although as others have said the venue WAS obviously oversold. The atmosphere afterwards was great, as I said, the band seemed happy to out of the studio for the night and were all on form. Jon's DJ set didn't come to much because unfortunately the venue had pretty much emptied out but we got a few tracks.
Reckon we're looking at end of the year, almost definately for album no 2 as far as I can gather.
Oh, and I thought Vessels were great too, will definately be keeping my eye open for them in Leeds in future.

Great show. Good sound mix by PRR standards. New songs good but not enough of them.
Venue seriously oversold making it an uncomfortable experience with limited view. Please play somewhere like the Borderline next time! Just that bit bigger and always good sound there.
So when's the next gig then?

I wouldn't hold your breath for another one for a good while. They've got an album to concentrate on for the moment.

Well not much to add to this thread really, I seem to have enjoyed myself like everyone else. Had long chats with Jamie and Jonathan and short ones with Chloe and Jon. I also didn't get stabbed or have my drinks spiked by the PRR "bad fairy" who predictably didn't dare show his face. And his name isn't Pat Hetic.
I thought the sound was great, if a tad muddled by the volume, and I could go on to give a whole list of opinions but I won't because I will just be repeating everyone else.
Jamie, interestingly, said that the new album would be very electronic, BUT, there would also be a reasonable amount of "quite heavy" riff-based stuff as well....
Fantastic night, hopefully a taste of more great stuff to come!

Nice. I agree that PRR have an extraordinary rhythm section. ...to match the stellar harmonies.

Aye, it definatly was oversold. I've been in there when it's sold out and had much more room than that. And yeah, there were some idiots in there for sure. There were some mates of a band member near me that seemed to get over seeing their mate on stage pretty wuick and started chatting over the tunes. I'm suprised it wasn't the venues sound guy, just because he has it so loud all the time. I assume he had a hand in the sound at least, he was certainly about setting up mics and that.

I can see why people don't normally like to go to the front and hang back and chill out a bit more but I think in there it really was worth it- obviously a completely unobstructed view but also a great atmosphere with no noticeable twats, just plenty of really enthusiastic PRR fans. Ironically, it also felt much less rammed up at the front than it did further back.

My review of the Water Rats gig got published on Teletext (their Planet Sound music section, a very worthwhile few pages to keep an eye on for all sorts of good bands). Fan reviews are only allowed to be up to 100 words long so it's not very detailed. Analogue TV: Channel 4 teletext, page 344 Digital TV: any ITV channel teletext, page 824 Internet: www.teletext.co.uk/Entertainment/Planet-Sound/album-live-reviews/default.aspx (and browse in the left-hand menu, the actual URL is about 2 miles long so I didn't post it here!) Will be up on those pages till 10pm Tuesday night (UK time) if anyone's interested. It's 99% what I sent in, they clipped the odd word here and there to fit the word count limit, but criminally they changed my review score of a 9/10 to an 8/10 - gits, it WAS a 9/10 gig!!! Still, I always try and fight PRR's corner on their pages - they gave The Dark Third (original UK release - Exact Colour and Twyncyn on there, Nimos and Intention Craft not on there) a 5/10 score when it was released, so I'm always trying to promote PRR's name and profile with a good word here and there: the masses should know the truth! ;D

I like it - the short review. If only I could write that concise! My supposedly 3 page papers wouldn't end up being 10 pages long...
