Anyone who is heading to this, fancy putting some faces to names? I always get the feeling that forum regulars are probably standing next to each other and just don't have a clue! Seeing as its my suggestion I suppose I should start... I'll be with my ma and she has dreads, we're a pretty recognisable pair to be honest!

Okey dokey. I'm on the right, and the bloke on the left is an old uni mate from Norn Iron who'll be going to the gig with me, as well as his sister and her mate. Listen for the generic southern accent shouting down a load of Belfast accents between the bands being on stage, and that's where I'll be...

Here's hoping that paedophiles won't naturally be attracted to the forums of obscure prog rock bands: Sorry...I can't actually find any better picts at the minute...I'm not much of a picture person really....actually this doesn't look that much like me cos I've had my hair cut recently....and I don't normally wear hats or stand in front of bird things (don't ask) Yeah I'll have some mates along as well but I'm not sure exactly which ones yet. If you can't recognise at the gig, I'll probably be the one screaming the lyrics at the rail....please come say hi it would be great to meet some real PRR fans for once!

there's no rail at the water rats.
i've given up singing at prr gigs, i've noticed them notice me fumble the words a few times and it's not funny!

This is awesome - everyone is sure to have some fun today. I've to go to sleep, but I hope to see some good reviews when I wake!

Don't own recording equipment so I can't supply any forum-ites who aren't able to go tonight with any bootlegs etc, but I will be sure to post my photos and thoughts on the gig as soon as I get a chance. Hope that will provide some form of consolation for you, albeit probably the most meagre kind...

I did enjoy that. Not stunning, not the best I've ever seen them, but very very good. Seemed to be a lot of riffing going on, more than I remember there being live but then it has been a while.
Was the set something like: In Aurélia Borgens Vor Deus Ex Machina Bright Ambassadors Voices in Winter / In the Realms of the Divine Victorious Cupid Golden Clothes (Dance Section) New One Encore: Nimos And Tambos Arrival/The Intention Craft
I think that's it, my order might be a bit off in the middle though.
Deus Ex Machina was amazing live, that and Trebling Willows were my highlights. Nimos sounded a bit changed up in places, not sure if that were just me though. I wonder how much was on the backing track. There was the violin obviously, some vocals were definitely on it though I'm not sure how much... The new song was about 7 years long and sounds like it was written exclusively to destroy dancefloors. Only Jamie was playing guitar in it I think (though as per, the mix was REALLY muddy and it was tricky to make them out sometimes), and it has a big fuck off synth line. Good signs for the album.
Had bunch of obnoxious arseholes round me, squeezing themselves into spaces that didn't exist leaving me with a face full of someone elses hair for quite a bit. It were rammed in there I know but... oh well.

Great gig last night, and it was nice to see them live again (the Barfly seems like an age ago now!). I thought the band looked and sounded tight as a gnat's chuff, obviously well rehearsed and the sound wasn't too bad either. It was incredibly loud though, probably too loud to pick out all the various bits going on. I wonder when sound engineers in these little places will learn that loud does not always equal great. It was confusing to see Jon and Chloe (& Jamie towards the end) gesturing frantically at their mics for more foldback (I guess), during the quieter numbers; what is it with PRR and their live sound? Anyway, those minor things aside, it was a welcome return indeed, and they played their socks off. Great to hear Chloe announce they've got a new record deal for the forthcoming album too; all seems well in PRR-World at the moment which is just great Picked up a copy of the Victorioud Cupid single for £2 too; nice!

I was wondering - how was Paul's playing on the new song? Was he very "present" or did his drums get drowned out by electronic beats and synths and so on?

Blonde Ambassador has a copy of the setlist, I'm sure if people ask nicely enough she can put it up. The new one just before the band came back for the encore was called Gloaming. Well, I thought that was ****ing awesome! Of the 11-12 times I've seen PRR live (going back as far as Greg being in the lineup), that was the best gig I've seen them play. And that's not just me being so happy to see them again after a long-ish absence, I genuinely reckon that I haven't seen them play as well as that before. I (as well as BA and TDF - Ryan, why didn't you come and find us? was right at the front, and the sound was a large factor in making this my favourite show to date: the mix was just about spot on where I was, aside from a few problems that Jon seemed to be indicating to the desk during the new song Gloaming. Other than that though, for me the sound mix was flawless and that makes all the difference with music as layered as PRR's is: **** up the mix and some vital bits of their songs get lost. Not a bit of it yesterday. As well as that, the band were looking really happy on stage again (which sadly hasn't always been the case since the lineup change), and it really came through in the atmosphere and the energy of the set. PRR looked like they were having a ball up there, and so were we. Not even a Belfast-based carpet bombing campaign by some un-named members of the front rows covering the stage with paper notes urging them to play Bullitts Dominae put them off their stride... After the show, the band were equally as on-form. While I've caught snatched bits of conversation with them after the set at past shows (completely down to me being star-struck rather than them being rude, I should add), yesterday the band took a lot of time to go round the venue chatting to people, and my mates and I all came away positively gushing about what friendly and down-to-earth people the band are away from the stage. Jon was just about to launch into his post-show DJ set when we had to leave , but it was a top night: their next gig can't come round fast enough!
I have a few photos from the show, and I also have a number of photos with me and my mates with various band members after the set - but all of my after-set photos have fallen victim to my camera being really **** and unfortunately every single one was badly blurred! My mates got some of the same photos doubled up on their camera, so if they e-mail me the pictures I might put them up. Anyway, the one or two photos I took from the show (too busy dancing to take any more!) are here:

I was wondering - how was Paul's playing on the new song? Was he very "present" or did his drums get drowned out by electronic beats and synths and so on? Er, I'd veer towards him being slightly further back in the mix - but I'd probably say that for most of their songs (on record as well as live). PRR aren't a band with the drums 'up front' on most of their catalogue, unlike, say, 65daysofstatic or The Mars Volta. Nothing at all wrong with that (my favourite part of PRR is their melodies), and Paul and Chloe seem a very tight rhythm section. Sorry to disappoint with a fairly noncommittal answer, but Paul was in the mix to a 'normal' level (for want of a better word) on Gloaming last night.
