Rocking out to Twyncyn/Trembling Willows from the 2-Disc version of The Dark Third that I got for Christmas.! Been wanting these bonus tracks for a long time. Never heard the full-on Golden Clothes before. Bearing in mind the hassle of getting that shipped across to you, that is a very, very lovely present indeed! Absolutely LOVED the full Golden Clothes when I first heard it (and I still do, btw), so can imagine how nice it must be to have the full monty version of that boy for the very first time! PS - oh, and hope everyone has had a very happy Christmas!

Been listening to the new one from The Tangent, Down and Out In Paris & London.
It's a nice step back from their previous opus, and has a much more laid back vibe about it. Some lovely instrumental passages too, certainly worth checking out for anyone who enjoyed their first album.

Oceansize - Build Us a Rocket Then, You Rocket-Building Cunt
The title gets me every time. I've got a huge number of CDs on order, playing some catch up and doing some exploring too. I'm quite exciting!

Really enjoying Yeasayer at the moment. Remind me of Guillemots but without the pop sensibilities (in a good way!) O.N.E. is a great song...

The pop sensibilities are absolutely the best thing about Guillemots, surely? They'd be up there with Klaxons for me in being the current best-in-the-business at creating hooks that sink in your brain like a doberman's bite whilst still being pretty cool and lacking the horrible cheesiness of The Killers and the like. Surely if you've got a Guillemots-esque band, you don't wanna LOSE the pop tunes?

I've been listening to Hope of the States again. I still think they'd be a million times better if Sams voice was at least mixed a little lower. It sits right on top of everything else on The Lost Riots. I might listen to Left later, I've not heard it past the singles. I've been watching videos on YouTube as well, it's really odd to see Ant in the context of a band because I've met him since and that's not how I think of him now!

I guess what I meant isn't about the hooks, there are plenty of catchy tunes in the Yeasayer album....it's more in the song structures etc, they are a bit more adventurous I think. Try listening to O.N.E. and I dare it not to get stuck in your head!

Mastodon anyone? Crack the Skye is a fantastic album. Way too far into the prog/metal bracket for me I'm afraid, I'm soft when it comes to those two things, I'm an indie kid at heart... Currently enjoying Local Natives and, dare I say it, Vampire Weekend, despite the fact I cannot STAND the song A-Punk, Contra is a good album. Finding quite alot coming out with one or two decent tracks but very little in the way of whole good albums. eg. Delphic - Halcyon, Goldheart Assembly - King of Rome, Husky Rescue - The Sound of Love.
