Really enjoying Fleet Foxes album at the minute, some beautiful harmonies, sounds like it's come out of the 60s, definately taking influence from Crosby, Stills and Nash I reckon. I just want the sun to come out to go with it!

I first saw them supporting Cave In as well, at the Garage? such a good gig that was. Cave In were totally on form. yeah, I was there! amazing show! shame there were only like 20 people there though...! The Garage in London? The one I was at was rammed, it was painful getting to the merch stall to get Pelicans CD (which all three of us did!)

you knows it. I recommend getting the Japanese versions of their albums from Inoxia (http://www.inoxia-rec.com/) for the bonuses and things (the Self-Titled EP is on Australasia, March Into The Is with The Fire In Our Throats..., and City Of Echoes has an exclusive live DVD, saves buying the other EPs separately). Then you should get into ISIS. really? I was quite drunk, so that may well have impaired my memory! good show though. I bloody love Cave In. haha, yeah man! Cave In were so good, the heavier stuff is so much better. Trepaning and Juggernaught were face-melting.

Bandwagoneers by The Dears from Gang Of Losers. In fact, that album has been monopolising my stereo and my playlists recently: really, really good album.
Their new record is called Missiles and, like lots of records I'm looking forward to (including a certain band from Reading?! No, I dare not even speak it, lest it be put back til 2009!), is out in October. Gonna be a nasty month for my cashflow.

Has anyone here heard of Moxy Fruvous? Well, I'm listening to them, they're like The Beatles crossed with the Bare Naked Ladies from Canada. Yes, they're THAT GOOD. Haha. Actually, they're more like failed comedians turned musicians. ...Who later became radio hosts and teachers. Moxy Fruvous, check 'em out.

Currently getting into The Aurora Project, an epic prog rock/metal band with the most awesome bass lines I've ever heard.
Why has the board been so inactive lately?

Recently I've been listening to: the new Slipknot album (not bad, bit nostalgic really) The Bookhouse Boys (Nick Cave with more surf guitars, good) Glasvegas (60s pop & shoegaze, also good) Bruce Springsteen (the fucking boss) DJ Shadow (phat)

"Head Like A Hole" by Nine Inch Nails.
Because I just found out about McCain's V.P. running mate, Sarah Palin. A gun-toting, pro-oil, corporate sellout, with a "healthy skepticism" of evolution theory. Ha! An open mind indeed!
"Head like a hole. Black as your soul. I'd rather die than give you control."
Whoo! I love America! (haha - I do, really.)

Ha, I'm glad it's amused someone My current obsessions are Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip, after an awesome performance at Reading (which unfortunately clashed with RATM, so I only got to see a bit of it) Another couple of new favourites from the fest are Natty, a reggae singer and Chromeo, of the electrofunk family...though I can't imagine ANY of the above appeal to many on this forum to be honest, but it is what I'm listening to!

I used to LOVE muse and listen to them the whole time. But I have to say that I've come to think of them as being actually a bit bland. While the sound they create is awesome beyond all parallel, and their riffs are fantastic, esp live, Bellamy's actual song writing ability is, when you strip it down, pretty basic, and often unoriginal. They're still a great band, and fully deserving of their popularity, but I don't think they quite have the je-ne-sais-quoi to maintain my whole-hearted interest in them. I got Origin of Symmetry the day it came out...and ever since it's been my favourite album ever. I've seen them 9 times but the last tour seemed to lack the same sort of energy and craziness as they had before. BHAR is a bad album, especially for Muse and I only really listen to Map of the Problematique these days. Part of it is the production - I think Rich Costey makes his albums sound far too shiny; I much preferred Dave Bottril. I just feel that BHAR had no power if you see what I mean...and once the "oooh, new Muse album" effect wore off I just gave up on it because it just wasn't awe-inspiring as Showbiz, Absolution and OOS were. I guess my music tastes diverged with the direction Muse decided to take after Absolution...I started to get into post rock and proggy stuff...I hope they do a U-turn for their next album, but I'm not expecting too much. EDIT: accidentally quoted the first page. Nurrrr

I like some songs on BHAR more than most of Origin of Symmetry ... Take a Bow was just mind-blowing on the DVD, and I'm quite a fan of Exo-Politics and Starlight... Absolution was my least favorite, not too sure why... I've never lived through a "new muse album" phase tho, maybe it was the hype around BHAR that killed it for you... The next album is going to be indie and contain more electronics *is hyped* Speaking of which, I should add it to the "upcoming albums" thread... Back on topic : Currently getting into Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd... and some rythmic tech metal like Textures...
