Kings of Leon's new album is surprisingly good...they don't normally do it for me at all but I have to say, they are convincing me with this one.

I kept hearing them in shops the other day, I might check it out. I'm not normally fussed either but it sounded ok. I'm listening to At The Drive In now. How did this become the mars volta

Ryan, once again I'll have to ask you to wash your mouth out with soap, young man: The Mars Volta are absolutely brilliant!

Mmm, they are one of these bands that although I can appreciate their music is really good and will enjoy listening to it on occasion, it wouldn't be something I'll ever put on or whack in the car, it's just a bit too intense and OTT for me I think.

Haha, yeah, that's exactly what I like about them - they're mad as a bunch of March hares and completely overblown, ridiculous and OTT: just what I want from a band on some occasions! Can see how they're completely a Marmite band, though... people who hate them just happen to have the wrong opinion...

The Mars Volta are an appalling band. Don't get me wrong, I loves me a bit of prog wankery. It's just Mars Volta are rubbish. All my mates love them, and constantly go on at me about them. They are all wrong. Along with you lot. Seriously, At The Drive In destroy them.

Meshuggah = good. If you're feeling adventurous go for 'I'. It's amazing.

Ah, just as there's an advert on the top of the page it reminded me...how damn disappointing is the new Bloc Party album?! I really liked A Weekend In The City, thought it was one of the best of 2007 despite being skeptical about their hype so forced myself to not download Intimacy and wait for the CD release but it's really not great, pretty much every track hits an anti-climax. I do feel it's a development album though, I think they might grow from that and bring out a corker of a fourth album- but then, its bad, when you're already looking to the next release a few days after the current one comes out!
On the other hand, don't know if they've been mentioned on this forum before but absolutely loving Fields' album 'Everything Last Winter,' I know it's not new but I've only just discovered it and its brilliant.

Lately I am listening a lot to Veto - Crushing Digits. A danish electro rock band. Check out "Built to fail" and "Blackout" @ www.myspace.com/vetositeOh, last week I stumbled upon The Lea Shores. They remind me of BRMC. Nice melodic (retro) sound. www.myspace.com/theleashoresHopefully they will release their debut soon.
