Still Kings of Leon's new album...it just hasn't got old, definately one of my favourites of the year. Shame they play such silly big venues now, would like to see it live but I can't deal with arenas etc, the gigs are nearly always overpriced, difficult to see and a general disappointment.

... two incredibly good albums in the mix at present; Fish's renaissance '13th Star' and 'Tardigrade' by Swedish art rockers Simon Says. Bostin!

Bon Iver's album is brilliant, all I'm wondering is why I came to it so late, I only got into it once all the end of year lists started flooding in with it on every single one...it's chilled, very chilled but beautiful and catchy in it's own way... I'm also enjoying Mates of State as I said in the other thread and, I have to admit, the soundtrack to the first season of Grey's Anatomy but I think thats purely down to an obsession with Grey's I'm harbouring at the minute!

Ditto, it is a very good album. Shame I'd not got into it sooner. The new is very good as well.\

Doesn't really deserve it's own thread but if anyone fancies trying this Spotify thing everyone is on about (its a streaming, legal free music service that lets you just listen to, well...quite a large library of music, although it does have plenty of gaps) You usually need an invite but as its new, this link takes you straight to the sign up page...I'm just trying it and it does seem fairly impressive at first go, especially for trying new things to see if you like them, thought I'd share the link anyway in case anybody is interested: www.spotify.com/en/get-started/

Wow, I'd never even heard about that before: awesome stuff, BA! Signed up now and already listening to an old R.E.M. b-side that I had on cassette tape (and lost), and never thought I'd get to hear again, yet there it is in their library! Thanks ever so much for that heads-up, looks to be a great little program/service!

Also, I guess this will be really helpful in all the threads/posts where people recommend other bands and songs to each other, since people can check out lots of whole songs (beyond what you'd often get as samples on websites like Amazon etc, and a greater choice than the 4-ish songs on a band's Myspace site etc) without having to commit to buying any CDs, in what looks to be a perfectly legal and legit manner.
I'll certainly be more likely to check out more recommendations from other people than I did previously using this, because it looks like it's going to be that much more easier and one-stop than all the various methods of checking out new bands I've previously come across.

Bingo.
If there's enough of us using it, we could have a PRR forum playlist.

Oceansize - An Old Friend of the Christies
I'd only listened to Frames once before, after my first round of Finals last summer and I didn't really like it. Mind you, I was only half listening at the time. So I kind of forgot about it, and decided to listen to it again on Sunday. I have to say, I'm ashamed of myself, it's an excellent album, especially the track I'm listening to (it's shot up to my top 10 favourite moments in music already)

So, did anyone else get the new Animal Collective? Got to be one of the most critcially acclaimed things to be released in ages...I do like it, though as with most critically acclaimed things, it's fairly inaccesible and takes a while to adjust to. 'My Girls' is a serious tune though!

God damn you Steven Wilson.
I've listened to almost nothing but Porcupine Tree for the past few weeks.

Can't seem to get over Meshuggah and their sick post-DEI discography... I missed their gig last week because it was sold out...

...current listening is "Shoot First" from The Pineapple Thief's wonderful Tightly Unwound album.
Can't wait until the first "Dawn Raids" EP is released later this month!
