Hi all,
I've been putting together something for the Discography to compare all the versions of TDT to work out which is the definitive version.
If I'm right, the 2 CD version of the 2020 remaster and the German 2007 2 CD (IOMCD 265, SPV 79332 DCD) both have the same tracks, the only difference being the 2007 has Asleep Under Eiderdown after a bit of silence following He Tried to Show Them Magic! / Ambassadors Return, where as the new version will have it as a track in its own right.
As far as I can work out, the only commercially-released track from that era not included is Sound of Free, which was the b-side to The Intention Craft.
However, a pal mentioned a CDR of rare stuff he had as follows:
1. Borgens Vow
2. Gaudette
3. Apprentice Of The Universe (acoustic)
4. The Intention Craft (acoustic)
5. Nimos And Tambos
6. Nimos And Tambos (alt mix)
7. Brief Reminder
8. Borgens Vow (alt version)
9. Human Zoo
10. Asleep Under The Eiderdown
I believe that Borgens Vow is likely to be the Borgens Vow version that appears on existing versions of TDT, while the Alt version is likely to be early version (possibly Sunset Sound) without vocals and, according to an old post on this 'ere forum by Lawrie, "comprises mainly of the opening guitar riff on the newer version, but with some more electronic squeaks and effects as well."
Gaudette was released on MySpace, if I recall correctly, then on the Valour EP for the final tour (as was). I don't think it could really be said to come from TDT-era. It was recorded a long time afterwards.
The acoustic tracks are likely to be a Mark Radcliffe session, or bootlegged from the ULU show, though The Intention Craft could be the acoustic version from the ORG-AN-ISED single of Victorious Cupid.
Nimos and Tambos, I suspect is likely to be the version from the US or European TDTs from 2007, and then there's slightly different version, which Lawrie identified as an earlier recording without much difference, which was on The Intention Craft single.
There is, as far as is known, only one version of Asleep Under Eiderdown, no matter whether the definitive article is included or not.
The rest are likely to be the Sunset Sound/VOW recordings as appear on In The Realm of the Divine.
Does that sound correct to people?
Is there anything else from the TDTera that hasn't been included on the new 2 CD remaster?
CD1:
1. Aeropause
2. Goshen’s Remains
3. Apprentice of the Universe
4. The Bright Ambassadors of morning
5. Nimos and Tambos
6. Voices in Winter/In The Realms of the Divine
7. Bullitts Dominae
8. Arrival/The Intention Craft
9. He Tried to Show Them Magic/Ambassadors Return
10. Asleep Under Eiderdown
CD2:
1. In Aurélia
2. Borgens Vor
3. The Exact Colour
4. The Twyncyn/Trembling Willows
5. Golden Clothes
