Talking of the intro (the one that debuted at Dingwalls and has been used on the whole Europe tour), can anyone work out what it says, apart from Amor Vincit Omnia? Jamie told me, but I've forgotten...and he challenged me to get the reference. I think it says "The story of a man [pause] and of a woman's face"

Hmm...face is definitely right...but story's not ringing any bells. But maybe it was that. Anyone know where it's from? Some obscure film, I think.

A google search leaves the nightmare of about 18 million results. The only way we'll know is if they tell us. Smug gits. Using their clips of Un Chien Andalouse as guide, maybe it's french...?

Yep, apparently they decided in Poland to add In Aurelia and Borgens Vor to the set and started the (only set of) encores with them. When I saw them in Stuttgart on Wednesday, however, they tagged them at the very end of the gig as a second set of encores, leading to the following setlist: Well, last night in Frankfurt we got the "Polish version" of the extended set: Frankfurt, Nachtleben 08/04/09 Intro Les Malheurs Keep Me Sane/Insane Apogee/Requiem For The Lovers Deus Ex Machina Victorious Cupid The Twyncyn/Trembling Willows The Gloaming The Bright Ambassadors of Morning AVO ----- In Aurelia Borgens Vor Voices In Winter/In The Realms Of The Divine Arrival/The Intention Craft

Unfortunately, even though I've seen them four times in April (and I'm really missing the intro when listening to AVO), I can't say for sure whether that's the exact sample they've been using.

BTW, the samples I've used for the above file are from the introduction section to the 1962 film La Jetée.

WOW!! I'm very very impressed. I've seen some pretty good internet sleuthing on these boards before, but this.....how the hell did you find this? Or even know about it?
Now I can tell Jamie that I (you) got the reference again. They don't get any easier....

I came across that film before after seeing 12 Monkeys years ago. So somehow it was familiar to me, I just couldn't directly make the link to that film. (Those déjà écoutés happen to me all the time...)
However, I guess it's just that my google-fu was strong today. I've actually been (unsuccessfully) looking for a recording of PRR's intro (something that I could put into my playlist just before Les Malheurs), somehow came across this forum, saw the words and googled for them. If you split the query into the two separate parts, you hit a few transcripts of the film's intro. The film itself is on youtube, so that's where I finally got the samples from.

I see that the poster on wikipedia is the same woman as was used in bits of the vids on the tour (the one with the woman resting her head on her hands). Sorry for the triple post.

Obviously big congrats though. Are those the correct words then? Thanks! Yes, they are. Finally found a recording of the intro (just had to look on the right board... ) and can confirm that the source and words are correct.
