That's the one that baffles me: for the band to remember the lyrics for that boy on stage is impressive, but the way they can actually spit the words out at the speed they do without making a mistake (or at least a mistake that I can detect!) is the thing that knocks me backwards!

That is the one point that admittedly, I even stop attempting to move my lips, there's just no point, still not a clue. Unless I was going to sit down with the inlay and actually rote learn the lyrics, I think it's clear there is no way I'm going to know those words.

Amor Vincit Omnia = AWESOME. Only thing that really bothers me is the lack of Chloe compared to TDT... But, other than that, it's awesome

Avalon is an island... How the heck does one burn an island? My sentiments exactly! Even if you ignore the context of Deus Ex Machina, and look at it in, say AVO where Jon sings "Like one of us, Avalon, Avalon" it now just screams "Like one of us, Island, Island" to me. D: Sam- I agree with you about the lack of Chloe. I didn't think it would bother me that much as I always thought Chloe worked best when she was harmonising with Jon but yeah it does feel as if something is missing slightly! I do think she contributed fairly, in terms of vocals, to the album though.

I got the album yesterday! Great service amazon.co.uk! I've listened to AVO four or five times I think thus far, and first impressions are positive. I've heard mixed reviews from many official magazines; some like it, some don't, most agree that it's a grower. If you don't like it initially, you will after listening to it a couple more times. And I can blatantly see a departure from TDT, even though there are of course a few similarities. It's still WAY too early to compare and contrast the two. I'll have to listen to AVO probably about ten more times before I'm ready to say which I like better or if it's able to be decided at all, since they're different genres. However, not to dwell on the negative, but I missed Chloe as well! She was so beautifully soothing in TDT, and I felt that a lot of that beauty/majesty/epicness is gone from this one. Thus far, it seems that this album is just a good old rocker. It doesn't feel like much of a journey to me like the last one did. Of course, I haven't even glanced at the lyrics yet, which really impressed me in TDT. And don't even tempt me to do a heavy, long-winded (I best none of you read the whole thing review/discussion on how I thought it was a concept album. I'm already tempted enough to do one on this one. Maybe if I can look at/understand some of the lyrics, I'll feel less that this is more of an "album" and less of an "epic."
