Hello. This is my first post, so be gentle.
I'm also a big Porcupine Tree fan, and from all indications, SW was not involved in the new PRR album. He will be mixing the upcoming Anathema record though.

Right, I'm sorry everybody but in response to recent activity on the forum, I'd like to remind you of the rules of the forum. I'm aware I may be a bit late in doing this and I apologise but I like to limit 'censorship' wherever possible so had hoped it wouldn't get to a point where I needed to intervene. This forum in no way condones or supports illegal acitivity in relation to this, or any other band, therefore the posting and discussion of links to downloads of any recording which is available, or scheduled to become available, on official release is not permitted under any circumstances.I hope this makes our position on what is not acceptable on this forum clear. Once again, apologies for modifying a large number of posts but I felt it had reached a stage where this had become necessary. I hope you all understand. If anyone has anything to take up with me on the basis of this, feel free to send me a PM, but the rule itself is not up for discussion. None of what I posted that you've changed/got rid of did any of this. I didn't say where it could be found (other than to say it wasn't torrents), just that I had it and it was good. I believe you've also deleted any reference to any opinion I might hold about the record, and opinion I could just as easily hold should I have a promo copy because I'm being paid to do a review...

So we can't discuss the new album at this time? I wasn't sure if that was against the rules.

Ok, to clarify. That rule includes 'discussion of' the material. The material is not available to purchase yet. If you are a reviewer then we are not going to make an exception quite frankly, as they are given pre-releases in a position of trust and to discuss them is an abuse of this.
So no, we are not permitting people to discuss the albums contents as that in itself may encourage others to seek out the release in an illegal way. Apologies if that wasn't clear enough.

So will there be any single releases from the album? I believe Deus Ex Machina was mentioned as being the first single by the band during the tour, is that still the case?

As far as I know, there hasn't been any mention of singles one way or the other: what the first one will be, or if there will be any at all. Sorry to say that there's been a sadly familiar lack of publicity/PR/information so far in the lead-up to AVO: there's still been no official word of the tracklisting on either the band's Myspace or via their management/record company yet, despite the fact that all this information has come out via the Play pre-order site. Hmmm, I hope that the PRR PR (haha, tongue twister) machine kicks into gear in the coming weeks, because the release date is but a stone's throw away now and it's still pretty quiet...

One assumes if the listing has been sent to retailers a Press Release from SuperBall wouldn't be too far behind. Not seen it reported anywhere though...
Hopefully we don't get a repeat of the dismal PR that happened on the last albums release...

Fuck yeah!! No seriously, I don't mean to complain about the stupid art. The music is a billion zillion times more important and all the indications in this department are very very good ones! Hurrah! Yeah, honestly, how often do you look at the artwork as compared to playing the album on ur iTunes (or w/e u use)? The music is what you pay for!

Oh man, don't get me started on how important artwork is.
If I'm playing something in iTunes I see the artwork, because everything is tagged.

So this Digipack package on the posted link is the official Collector's Edition? 'Cause if it is, I'm all over that! I'm just going to be waiting a couple of weeks for intercontinental mail like I did for the last one! Totally worth it

So there will be a huge edition with a full live DVD?

What? All I was saying is this isn't being marketed as a 'collectors' edition. Then I made the educated guess that the one with the DVD will be made in lesser amounts. Based on prior knowledge I could guess at how many, but there's no point.
All we know at the moment is that there will be two versions, the two listed on play.com.

As far as I know, there hasn't been any mention of singles one way or the other: what the first one will be, or if there will be any at all. Unfortunately I can't remember specifically where I read it, but I'm sure I read that they played a gig in Germany, and were called back for another encore, so played Deus Ex Machina again. Chloƫ then said something along the lines of, "we're going to play this one twice, as it's going to be the first single". Unless I dreamt it, I'm sure that was said at one point. Totally agree with all your points regarding PR. It would be nice to see some sort of push from Superball for the album and tour. Is this Superball's first album release? If not, it would be interesting to see how they handled any previous releases PR wise. In truth I think one of the strongest promotional tools you can have these days, is to be on iTunes. The amount of music I've bought this past year just searching through iTunes, thanks to the "other customers bought this" or featuring on compilations. It's far more effective than any amount of posters or adverts IMO, unless they're going to get something out for the Super Bowl I hope they're well represented though, if nothing else, the album artwork should turn a few heads.

Well, on the plus side, we do know they have a new website in the works, so hopefully that will be part of a bigger push on Superball's part. I check that domain about five hundred times a day to see if it's up yet. ;D
