well, I've just watched the DVD.
The one thing that shines is Jamies live guitar tone. Fucking sick. Especially on those Rockpalast videos. The NearFest Stuff is good. The audio mix is obviously great, shame they didn't do anything like that with the Rockpalast stuff. The editing is fairly straight forward but it certainly doesn't suffer because of it. Unlike... Rockpalasts guff. I've made my feelings clear on all of that though, hehe. If the audio mix were cleaned up a bit it'd be great though, the guitar is so visceral. So, that leaves the Cargo video. Who'd have thought it would be the best thing on the DVD eh. Clearly some tough footage to work with, I'd have been trembling if I'd got that! It's great though, a really good job done with some fairly suspect material. Obviously you couldn't have a DVDs worth, but as a little promo type piece I thought it hit the mark really well. Had the footage been that little bit better it could have been outstanding!

Yeah, I read a lot of you saying stuff about having heard most of the album already. ...Can't say I didn't warn you lolz! I purposely ceased to listen to anything related to AVO, because I knew what would happen. I probably listened to DEM five times and VC about ten times (total since they came out) before I received AVO. On a higher note, somebody (I don't know how) needs to post the album cover on the wiki page for AVO. It looks so empty without it. If I knew more about the album/editing pages I would do it, but I couldn't really figure it out, as I am a nub. After listening to the album about five times in the past 30ish hours, I still cannot get into Disconnect. I also really miss Chloe's prominence, as I've said earlier. But other than that, everything else sounds great, besides a too-often-occurring synth that sounds like a mix between the Super Mario theme and a harp. Oh yes, you know which one I mean. Granted, I haven't completely adjusted to this from TDT, but I'll get into it . EDIT: Just read one of the interviews you guys posted a little while ago. Saw Jon mention something about using anything that matched well with the cohesiveness of the album. I guess that's my complaint about that Daft Punk meets Super Mario Bros. synth; it doesn't seem to match with the album like the other synths do (kudos for being creative! there are a countless selection of great synths in AVO!). It seems a bit too playful, or not serious enough, whereas I have never really thought of PRR as playful. But then again, they don't have any boundaries.

You're not wrong, that coding is a mystery to me...there's me thinking 'oh I'll go and sort that out and prove my wonderfulness' but that really is a minefield I can't work out...so, clearly, we can be nubs together!

lol! I just watched the bonus dvd. Amazing stuff! The song choices were perfect, and I love it all the more because it's really the only time I get to the see the band ("in person"). I thought the camera work was great on Rockpalast, and the energy there seemed really intense. Nearfest looked a little impersonal almost, because it was more upscale and professional. All of you that went tell me what you think, 'cause I'm no one to judge when I wasn't there. And I really liked seeing the final music vid of Apogee. Not only is that an amazing song, but I love seeing the other side to a band, the off-stage side. It's really cool to see that they're real people too, especially the rehearsing in the bathroom! No really, I'm not making fun, I love that! It honestly shows great personality coming from the band! Good job you guys! The only thing that could make this better is if you had released five bonus songs (that were all just as breath-taking as the album itself!) with the Spec Edition. I love you, PRR!

I ripped the album using windows media player, and Apogee is labelled Deus and everything after that is labelled as the song that follows it, so AVO is 'Bonus Track'!
Anyone else having this problem and is there a way to fix it?

It's because someone submitted those titles to the CDDB, I guess just after the leak when we didn't know what the proper tracks were or something. You should be able to rename them manually.

I don't think you can. From my understanding, it's coded to the CD.

I FINALLY GOT THE ALBUM! I preordered it from Amazon.co.uk and it came today, on my birthday! I love this album. I'd already heard everything but Keep Me Sane/Insane, Requiem for the Lovers, Bloodless, Disconnect, and AVO, but it was really nice hearing everything in studio quality. I really like the new version of Victorious Cupid. An improvement, I think. I love the whole Apogee suite; it sounds incredible, after I've only heard the live version from the Rockpalast show. Deus is awesome, as always. My only thing is that I wish the guitars were a little more pronounced, like on the Rockpalast show. I like Bloodless a lot - it's very pretty. I know I'm in the minority here, but I think Disconnect is a good song! Weirdly, I get this almost reggae vibe from it (maybe I'm just crazy). Gloaming is excellent - vastly improved over the first performance ever (from the Water Rats) which I had as a bootleg before. As others have said, I'm glad it follows the newer live version. AVO is beautiful as well. I love the build up and ending. It's very fitting for a closer. All in all, a different but worthy follow-up to The Dark Third. As for the DVD, not too many surprises since I've had the NEARfest CD since it came out, and I've had the Rockpalast video for a while now. Nice to have, though. I really liked the Apogee clip. I think it looks really cool, especially seeing them rehearse with the lyrics sheets. IN SUMMATION: After waiting for two years, I'm satisfied. ;D

Theres probably a way of manually changing it so it shows up on Media Player, but presumably if you took out the CD and put it back in it would reset itself... If you've done this before though, who am I to argue? Happy birthday, flyingswordfish!

Yeah, I had the same problem with the automatic naming thing. I had to manually change them, and the trouble to do all that made me wonder who the heck idiot did that (without properly knowing in the first place, right?) and how one would go about doing that anyway. Like, how do you even get to this CDDB (database I assume)?

Also, I can't get over how cool it is to see Roisin "blondeambassador" and Lawrie listed in the thanks. That's really neat!
