As Tim just wisely suggested, I'll jump on his bandwagon and create a new thread, especially for those who for some reason or another have heard the thing of beauty already, that way, with the exception of the brief page of discussion on the old AVO thread, we won't make the lives of those who have chosen to wait til March 9th any more frustrating than I'm sure they already are! So...AVO thoughts etc, continue...

The tracks I have not heard in one form or another: Keep Me Sane/Insane Requiem for the Lovers Bloodless Disconnect AVO I can't wait, but by golly I will wait! Edit: Actually I have heard one of those while at the Courtney's house and Jon and Paul were tinkering. Don't know which it was, but it sounded good!

I think I've listened to the album at least once a day since it leaked! Overall, I don't think it's as good as The Dark Third but it's still very, very good and my main contender for album-of-the-year.
Highlights: Les Malheurs, Deus Ex Machina, and especially the a capella section at the end of Apogee/Requiem For The Lovers (I have to stop whatever I'm doing when that bit comes on).
Lowlights: Disconnect (I can't quite put my finger on it, but the whole mood of the song feels odd, kind of childlike), The Gloaming (perhaps a bit too long, would have liked to hear more variation).

I have to agree with nimos back there, of all the songs in the album, Disconnect was the one that felt the most distant from the rest of the tracklist. I think that the Keep me Sane/Insane / Apogee / Putrid Hearts sequence is really well made and I'm completely hooked on it. The only previous PRR song that got me this addicted was the Twyncyn, so even though the sound is definitely different, I can really tell it's PRR at heart. I truly hope they continue to experiment with their sounds and bring different experiences in their next albums without sacrificing the melodic value of their songs.

I do love how everyone feels a need, because they feel Disconnect is a little less good than the rest, to harp on about it, never mind the other 8 brilliant ones...not just on here, just on last.fm and other forums.
Also...Putrid Heart?! Tis the first time I've heard that referred to anywhere, do you know something we dont?

Putrid heart is what I call the final part of "Apogee" I remember seeing the song being originally referred to as "Putrid Heart" in this forum. You can call Putrid Hearts the apogee of Apogee

I was under the impression that Requiem for the Lovers was the slower-paced song that comes afterwards.

I've never seen anything about any "Putrid Heart" on here. It's not on the tracklisting, which shows Apogee/Requiem for the Lovers, then Deus Ex Machina.

Have to agree it sounds like Jon singing "putrid heart" at some point in Apogee... Or if you're from french canada : Poutine heart From wikipedia : Sorry Jon. The great thing about this album is that there's a pro and a con song for everyone... And it seems to be extremely different from one person to another. I'm personally hooked to The Gloaming, and can't stand Deus Ex Machina anymore (due to overplaying it on the live album)...

I couldn't resist downloading the leaked AVO version although I did at the same time pre order from Amazon, so I don't think anyone can complain, and I wanted to hear it a bit before the Reading gig which is before the release date. Have listened a few times now. As I posted on the poll thread I think it is generally very good. Not sure about disconnect but I can't say I am that bothered by it anymore, Anyway the lowest point for me is easily Les Malhuers. Also as a whole it does lack enough guitar for my taste. The best tracks like Apogee for instance are where the newer electro sound is mixed with the more rock sound of the earlier material to great effect.

For me the high point is Les Malhuers!!!.. seems to me like a lack of material with this one.. we have two tracks that have been kicking about for awhile.. the albumm clocks in at just over 40 mins... where the hell is the guitar..lost in action.. tracks 6-9 are just lost on me completely..repetitive lyrics on some tracks.. the vocoder style vocals are awful... the last track is woeful ... finding it very poor at the mo...
