Bit of an obvious thread, and it does what says on the tin, but what are everyone's favourite parts of PRR's songs? There are loads to choose from, but my personal highlights would be (in no order of preference):
- The part in Goshen's Remains from Jon singing "Morning's dew rose over the planet" to the end of the vocals on that song. - The opening vocals on The Bright Ambassadors Of Morning, from "It takes a minute to photograph" up until Jon begins the "A million bright ambassadors of morning" part. - When the guitars kick in and Arrival goes 'loud'. - The "Please carry away this severed head" psuedo-choruses on The Twyncyn/Trembling Willows. - The electronic-y (rubbish word!) part at the end of Golden Clothes. - Cheating, but just about the whole of He Tried To Show Them Magic!/Ambassadors Return! ;D
What parts do everybody else most enjoy to PRR's songs?

I'd have to have (as well as most of the above) the 'see the exact colour of my blood' bit in the middle of the exact colour, and the 'souls of old' bit from trembling willows and (my very favourite of all time) the last 30 seconds or so of intention craft, ending on 'desire obsession and truth'. There's loads more but I can't be bothered to think too hard at the mo.

Thats a bit scary...the Exact Colour one and the end of Intention Craft were exactly the ones I was going to choose, I think that Intention Craft moment has been referred to as the 'mantra' before! I'd also say the opening riff of In Aurelia (especially live) and when Ambassadors kicks into the heavy bit has got to be a bit of a classic PRR moment! (About 8mins 21secs I think...awesome!) Oh I've got so many though...'And if we die like this right now...'etc from Cupid and 'did you feel love...' etc from Deus are some new favourites! (To be honest, I think I could literally go through and pick a favourite moment from every single song!) Good thread by the way! We've never really bothered with all the 'obvious' ones you find on other bands' forums but we should!!

when jon s voice comes in in 'goshens remains' the chorus kicking in in 'deusexmacchina' and, f course, 'apprentice' and 'twyncyn', hard to single out one moment from either though!

Anything where a massive riff crashes in (Bright Ambassadors and Willows, I'm looking at you) is utter win, especially live. The breakdown in Golden Clothes. Like others, the last 30 seconds of The Intention Craft. Also the bit in Willows where Jon clearly should be breathing more between lines.
I have a feeling I'll keep coming back to this...

Also the bit in Willows where Jon clearly should be breathing more between lines. Haha, pretty much the only chunk of PRR lyrics that I don't (and physically can't) know to sing along to...I try and it just quickly descends into mumble mumble something mumble....

...the 2 minutes' silence between 'ambassador's return' and 'under the eiderdown' Really though, the violin ending on 'VIW'... makes me feel sad.

Remembered another one: the 'and as I ask them' chorus from bullitts dominae. Classic.

the slow, mellow harmony 'dominae were trembling lovers' etc or whatever they actually sing... on twyncyn/willows (you can see ive lost the lyric sheet) arrival and the burst into intention riff basslines & piano driving aeropause aeropause morphing into goshens goshen vocal and chorus (now it always sounds like morning 'stew' all over the planet to me), but i still love it, very CSYN ambassors, kicking into the heavy riff bit golden clothes.....verses and first choruses so plantive, very sad.. vicki cupid...the vocal hooks and the way they lead into the riffy bits oh and lots more its all splendid isnt it

Live, In Aurelia into Borgans Vor is amazing, it's a shame that sequence didn't make the album, and they changed the recorded version to much for me to make it myself.

I think several parts of Deus Ex Machina have got to be added to this list...by the way (this may be late but I don't think anyone's mentioned it) I noticed that in the studio version they didn't include the final verse at the end that they have in the live version, which ends with Jon's vocals rather than fading out...an ending I think I prefer.

I was hoping that was cos it's an unfinished demo version, I don't see them ending the song like that plus it's missing some of the electro section.

Of course I love the ones that others have mentioned, and I completely. However, I was surprised that this one escaped mention, so there it is: The heavy guitar and violin beginning to Realms of the Divine (and the speedup of the majority of the rest of song)!

Just the last line from The Intention Craft:
"I'm veering closer to you - desire, obsession and truth." Something magical about it.
