What do people think? I often see guests lurking on here when I check out the boards, and (let's face it) there can't be all that many casual music fans stopping by on their trawl through the worldwide web! I'd have thought that most people who would describe themself as a PRR fan would have registered for the forums, so maybe it's the band members having a sneaky peak at how the faithful are feeling? I think the band (or people connected to them) must have read the topics on the old Sony forums, because that bulletin back at the start of the year on their Myspace acknowledged a lot of the fan frustrations that were being expressed on the old boards. If the band know about these forums, probably reasonable to assume that they look in every now and then to guage the mood? Dear admin, have you got anything to say on the subject? ;D Or maybe Jon/Chloe/Jamie/Paul, you'd like to take a bow and say hello? Maybe I shouldn't do my conspiracy theories late at night when I should be sleeping.............

I reckon. The bit about the DVD on Pauls site getting removed is the clue for me...
Has this site been advertised anywhere? I can't actually remember where I found it now... the Yahoo group? Have the band been informed?

The DVD bit may or may not be due to these forums: when I posted that thread I also sent an e-mail to the Paul's address (as listed on his site) to ask how likely that DVD might be, and to pass on some words of encouragement that a DVD release would be very welcome. But yes, between that and the forums, that must be why that has disappeared from his site.
I found these forums from the Facebook group The Pure Reason Revolution Revolution. I hardly ever check the Yahoo group, but I think these boards are linked there too.

Ah, that screws my theory then!
I might have come via Facebook as well actually... hmm... can't remember now.

How do we know that some of the regular posters aren't actually the band members themselves? We now fall into a vicious circle of mistrust...nobody is beyond suspicion!! Not even me! Maybe I'm actually Jon!!! How could you possibly know!!! HAHAHA! I think old scat is looking pretty shifty as well - he started this thread! Maybe the whole forum is populated by the various accounts of the band members, all of whom haven't told each other!! Maybe it's just a stunt to make it look like PRR has fans!
Seriously though, I would be pretty surprised if the band didn't check places like this every now and again, just out of interest. I doubt they do it obssessively though! Also, they're professionals, I don't think that they'd actually join in the discussion and awe us with their presence. Sadly.

They definately know it exists, I've told both Jamie and Jon on separate occasions so I'm sure they've had a peek. That was quite a while ago now, doubt they check it too regularly but Jamie even sent a link to it in a myspace bulletin once.

I'd have thought that most people who would describe themself as a PRR fan would have registered for the forums, so maybe it's the band members having a sneaky peak at how the faithful are feeling? So that's 56 PRR fans (members of the board) minus 4 members of the band, minus their manager (scat), 1 set of parents each and 2.5 children per family... so exculding immediate family and employees that's 37 fans minus me, so that means there are 36 other PRR fans out there on the www.... woo hoo..... divide that by 4 years of touring, playing an average of 100 shows per year.... thats 0.0036 fans converted per show.... ....yet only a quarter of them ever bother to come on here and show an interest.... so, and it's gonna take me a while to do the maths..... thats.... errr..... 3 hundered thousand and no.... err.......well..... its.... err.... well, pretty bad....... or as their manager would say.... a run of bad luck..... to which address should i send my CV, PRR? I can make it almost as creative as Pauls.....

Oh, Harkins IS a man of many talents, but it does sound as though he is a little disaffected by what's going on,as, I must admit, I am. When you have followed and supported a band as much as I have over the last 3-4 years it does take quite a lot to feel this way. So, to answer the question, it is obvious that none of the band does read this forum as there is no real defence being put up for the band's lack of communication. All the other boards I post on have input from the bands in question, why can't PRR? Maybe the problem is the lack of their own Board (since the loss of the sony one) and the amount of control they have over it. Maybe this board's administrator should get in touch with the band and suggest they put a link to this forum in their reply to every new friend on Myspace. Harkins is right...56 members for a 4-year old band isn't very much to show for it. Let's get this 'buzz' going....

Harkins is right...56 members for a 4-year old band isn't very much to show for it. Let's get this 'buzz' going.... I don't think that the band have a duty, in any sense, to keep in contact with their fans via a board like this, but that certainly doesn't excuse the sporadic (at best) bulletins on Myspace, which is now their seemingly official homepage. Whilst it is probably a very sensible idea for the band to have an idea of the general mood of the fanbase by reading forums like this, I wouldn't expect them to actually post on here, and then get dragged down into debates with us fans, and potentially end up being 'called out' - something I think that wouldn't be fair. However, while I don't expect the band to post on here (though reading this forum would certainly do them no harm), there are no excuses for keeping in regular (one-way) contact with the fanbase via official channels (i.e. Myspace). PRR are one if the worst bands in this regard on the list of bands I like, and it's even more frustrating/confusing when you think about how small and fragile their particular core fanbase is. You'd think that with such a low number of diehard fans, they'd be desperate to try and keep the few fans they have informed of what is going on, before they drift away in a vacuum of information.

While I totally agree more updates would be nice, I still stand by the fact that it is really not uncommon for a band to go very quiet while they work on an album. I also do think there's a strong possibility that right now, they've not got a lot more to tell us than what they already have- they are recording, planning tours for next year and until that changes and they've confirmed release or tour dates, I can see why they wouldn' necessarily feel a need to constantly update people.
Don't get me wrong, I'd like to know what they are up to but I can also see that if nothing's changed, why would they keep sending us bulletins saying 'we're recording, not sure when we'll be finished yet' 'we're recording, not sure when we'll be done' 'we're recording, it's going ok but still not got a predicted release date.'
Anyway, I swear someone started to complain that Jamie was 'killing time' when he linked to the youtube videos. All I'm saying is if they've got nothing to tell, it's as simple as that.

BA.... I understand your point, but (and sorry to shoot you down in such a manner), I'd like to refer you back to Jamie's last update, which was over a month ago, when he was very apologetic about the lack of communication, and PROMISED updates would be coming "thick and fast" from now on!! Now.... maybe the poor lad has got lost somewhere in Walsall, Poland(sic), and is unable to establish an internet connection to update us, but some may argue that there is nothing worse than a broken promise..... Nobody would be expecting an update with such baited breath were it not promised.......

I take your point, BA, and it is a fair one. All I'd say that is with a band with PRR's recent history of near-crisis after near-crisis, a word here and there just makes a world of difference. Another of my favourite bands, The Music, have been notoriously bad at this in the past, but they have recently gone back into the studio, and are posting regular small snippets of information: Rob will just drop a quick one-sentence bulletin on Myspace every few days saying what they've been working on (e.g. getting the drums down on a new song etc). It shouldn't take any effort to do that for a band, and in the case of bands who look like they might fall off the face of the Earth and split up at any second (like PRR and The Music), it makes the fans feel that there will be something worth sticking around for, no matter how long it takes.

I do understand all of your points, yep, you're correct, Jamie or anyone else should not have said updates were going to come 'thick and fast' when they clearly are not- he would have been much better to have said 'everythings OK, we're recording,we'll be back in touch when we have some news.' Plus, I think the problems is because they USED to be quite good, with a recording blog and a few snippits of Jon's ramblings every now and again, the change is now particularly apparent.
I guess I personally just haven't ever expected anything much from them until at least the new year, so I'm not exactly disappointed-I know Jon is a penickity studio demon and they will shut themselves in there for as long as they feels it takes and I know how delayed the release of TDT was...I think I'm also just bored of whinging and so I'm going on the premise of 'good things come to those who wait.' As long as they don't turn into the next My Vitriol, as I've never seen a band with so many fans who can't even be bothered anymore- but we've got a good 5 years to wait before PRR hit that stage!
