Provided you're willing to wait a decade for it to arrive... I swear Play never used to be this bad on delivery times.

It has got longer. I wonder where they are shipping from? Mine shipped Friday and arrived today, something from amazon was ordered and shipped Saturday and arrived yesterday. Weird.
SO YELLOW!

This might be a bit of an exclusive kind of post as it only really applies to those people who have the album in their hands already (and the special edition of the album including the DVD at that), but I didn't think the following was really a suitable post for the Album 3: The Verdict thread either.
So, on the DVD of the Hoxton gig, put your hand up if you can spot yourself looking like a total dick at some point or other. Valour was a particularly bad 5 minutes for more than a few forumites that I know of!
*raises hand*
*also sort of raises hand on behalf of blondeambassador, the dark fourth, AlExMachina and musecubed... you can decide your own level of dickishness, but spotted you most definitely were!*
Anyone else want to join the Hall of Shame?

Ha *raises hand* although I only glimpsed myself for a moment and I at least I was nodding/dancing rather than texting, *ahem*.
I have to say, not the most impressive DVD. The sound mix is pretty terrible, and doesn't do any justice to the sound at the show. Way too much guitar. However, it did remind me how good some of the AVO tracks are. Deus and Victorious Cupid I think are the best on the DVD, and maybe Fight Fire too. It's also reminded me why I liked Valour so much more at Koko and on the album than at Hoxton - it's really weak on the DVD, even if you ignore the embarassing fans...

Woo - my copy was waiting for me last night. Only listened twice so far, so will reserve judgement until it's properly sunk in.
I was going to listen on the drive in to work this morning, only to discover that it hadn't copied over to my iPod properly. Bah!

I still have to see the full DVD in a quiet moment. So far I've spotted myself in most of the songs and fortunately I don't look a lot more embarrassing than usual... ;D But I might raise my hand later when I've seen it in full. I have to say, not the most impressive DVD. The sound mix is pretty terrible, and doesn't do any justice to the sound at the show. Way too much guitar. Mmmh, I have to disagree. I think the sound is much better than on the Rockpalast stuff that was part of AVO. (Just my first impression from listening to it with headphones on the laptop.) And yes, the guitars are more present than in the studio versions, but that was always the case on PRR gigs. I actually like this, as it gives most of the songs a new touch. The thing that bothers me most about the DVD is the lousy video. I don't know who messed this up, but unless at least two of the cameras were malfunctioning in the same way during the gig (which honestly I can't believe; or they were just lousy cameras), all these weird distortions are certainly due to some error in processing the material. Or is it just me seeing this on my laptop? Ryan, can't you just bring some clones of you to the next gigs and make sure we get a proper video?

... Way too much guitar. ... This is someting like an oxymoron. I love guitar sounds. The video quality isn't that good but I don't care. I enjoy the music and it's fun to watch it. I've never been very impressed by Les Malheurs but this version with Jon's guitar playing is great! The other songs are great too, of course.

I like guitar too, and I love the new guitar parts in Les Malheur - I just thought they sounded a lot better on the actual night than they do on the video. Live, the guitars sounded huge and awesome, on the dvd they sound growly and a over-distorted without being cool. The vocal parts come over well in the mix, but the backing track is too low and the guitars too high.
And don't worry BA, it's only been recorded for all eternity for every prr fan to see. I suppose we can let you off if it was your 28th gig!

Or is it just me seeing this on my laptop? I haven't watched it yet, but maybe it's a stylistic choice? I assume it's the horizontal lines like in Fight Fire? Oh I see. Weird. Iit looks like it was done on a range of equipment in low light so some of it's understandable. A couple of the angles look quite nice (from something a touch higher end then my camera I'd guess, and one that might be from a camera the same as mine), whereas a couple stick out as being not as good I think (the one at the back right for example, looks like a Flip cam maybe). Could be loads of reasons for that mind, I've had to put stuff together from a range of sources like that. It looks like it's been authored from a bad quality file or something though? It needs deinterlacing (you can see the interlacing across movement, look at the edges of bodies and things, or it's been done wrong at least. edit: in fact, i think I know exactly what the problem was. It's only one one camera, bet it shots 1080i like mine. It's also 4:3, but it looks like it was filmed in 16:9. I've got it stretched out watching it back but that's not helping the overall quality. Even stranger because the Fight Fire video on YouTube is in 16:9. Kinda weird mistakes to have made, stuff that could have been rectified easily. I quite like it other then that though. The edit's pretty good, better then they've had before. Still with some odd shot choices sometimes (and the camera front left is at an unflatteringly low angle, but I've been there and there's not that many options I guess, but it's a shame the camera on the stage at the right moves to the floor, that was a great angle) but I don't know what they were working with really so I would criticise it too much. Of course, this kinda thing is my job so I'm picky about it at the best of times! I think the audio sounds great, the guitars sound exactly as I hear them live (although I wasn't at this gig I spent the whole of the Paris show next to Jamies amp!).

I'm just baffled as to why anyone would edit that shot in, when at least 95% of that gig, I was attentive and loving it.... Haven't seen it all yet, will sit down and watch it tonight, though after your comment about the texting, I had a horrible feeling it might be me so checked Valour out straight away!

So far I've spotted myself in most of the songs and fortunately I don't look a lot more embarrassing than usual... ;D But I might raise my hand later when I've seen it in full. Ok, raising my hand for hiding behind my camera and then smiling stupidly at the end of Valour. The thing that bothers me most about the DVD is the lousy video. I don't know who messed this up... Uhm, me, partly. There is some interlacing issue with the cameras. But the deinterlacing filter I had turned on actually made it worse. So it's not that bad with the filter disabled. I'm very curious how this will look on "real" DVD hardware. Other than that, I'm still very pleased there's now some decent live footage of PRR. And talking of footage... when are parts 2 and 3 of the tour documentary to be expected?
