Just got the latest eclipsed (german prog-rock magazine) and was surprised to see a PRR gig announced in their concerts section for April 24th. It'll be a mini-festival including PRR, Riverside and Jolly (all great bands). Following the promotion link, they say album 3 is about to be released in May! Yay! ;D impuls-promotion.de/

While I'm still waiting for my copy of the SE, I've been listening to this album about 20 times since last Friday. This piece of music is so amazing, I just can't stop. And it absolutely grows with each run.
On the first one or two runs, I found the chorus of "Drawing The Line" a bit strange, but it's become one of my favourite parts now. The best parts for me are "Octane Twisted", "I Drive The Hearse", "Time Flies", "Kneel And Disconnect", "Drawing The Line", "The Blind House", "The Séance", "Circle Of Manias", ... mmmhh ... there's actually not much left now... ;D
As for the second disc, only the first two songs did stick to my mind. But I've not listened to it extensively (yet). I disagree that the disc sounds like Steven's solo work. Insurgentes, as a whole, is still better than each single PT album.

Even though Porcupine Tree already showed up in this thread, I'd like to emphasize one song: Drown With Mewww.myvideo.de/watch/4355274/Porcupine_Tree_Drown_With_MeEven without the layered vocals (1:50, 3:20, ...) this song would be amazing. The fact that this track was only released as a bonus on the special edition of In Absentia makes me wonder what other gems Steven might be hiding... (Oh, and the sound of this video absolutely sucks compared to the original. )

Was Jon even there?! haha! lol, you're right. But I know that it's hard to take photos of him as he's usually hiding behind his synths and guitars...

Nah, that's fine. PRR and their music are pretty exceptional, so I won't mind if you don't like the rest of the bands. It just happens pretty often that people read the label "prog" somewhere and judge a band purely on that basis. It's not really a beneficial label these days...

Oh, and anything called 'Night of the Prog' is pretty much a no go for me, I'm not gonna lie...even if it was in the UK I don't think I'd be tempted! Ok, let's face it. Most of today's so-called "prog" is really a parody on itself. A lot of bands play exactly the same as they did last century. Which means they're not at all "progressive". In the sense of real "progressiveness", PRR certainly deserve the right to play there. Almost all the bands I highlighted are bands that really surprised me because they're really unique in what they do (except probably for Arena). So I don't think the label "prog" is bad per se. In its original sense, it's still a very good thing; and this year the choice of bands to play on that festival is pretty good.

Problem is that "here" is always relative. Actually, the Loreley is almost "here" for me, it's about a two hour drive from where I live. Don't know exactly where your "here" is, but I guess it's somewhere in Britain. Aren't they playing in Brighton this week?

I picked up Wavering Radiant and Oceanic (Isis) in the last week. Neither has deseated Panopticon for me yet and Oceanic - whilst a good album - is my least favourite so far (I haven't got Celestial yet) because there's just a little too much screaming. Panopticon was my first album, and I was also rather disappointed with Oceanic at first. But I listened to it a few times with headphones while being on a train, and this album really grows. Depending on my mood, both Panopticon and Oceanic can be my favourite album. I think Wavering Radiant is more diversified, Absence Of Truth more coherent. Both are great, yet slightly behind their predecessors. Yay, can't stop listening to that album, even more so after seeing them live last Friday. What an amazing gig! 3 great bands in a row and more than 4 hours of music.
