Looking at the fold-out in the PRR Live at Nearfest 2007 album, it seems we need a thread to discuss the band members for whatever reason. I've no particular reason to at the moment, but here we go!

Yeah... your reaction is pretty much the same as mine... we're all too cool for idol worship.

I've a Chloe crush, and a character in a Penny Arcade video game named after her. I find myself falling into a particular brand of band obsession with PRR that I never would have imagined myself capable of. ...kinda funny, kinda frightening... It's magic, and that's that.

I'm interested that there seems to be ever-growing focus on the band members, in all seriousness. The new myspace profile pic, for example. Or the inlay to the nearfest album. Or indeed the fact that they now list the band members on myspace. Dare we be led to believe that the new album cover will be a band pic, shocker of shockers??? Is this a good trend or bad? Dunno.

Good post, TDF, that's prompted me into sticking my oar into this thread for the first time. <would like to insert a clapping icon> Still haven't got my NEARfest album yet (should be getting a copy at the Barfly, touch wood), but I've noticed that PRR are starting to give the actual band-members a bit more exposure in their promotional material lately. I think that as a general trend, this can only be a good thing. As I've stated repeatedly on these boards, I think it would be a really good thing for PRR to market themselves towards a more mainstream audience [note that I don't see this as being the same as making music for a more mainstream audience]. I think that the band have a lot of untapped commerical potential, and that for a band of their quality and style, the band/their music doesn't reach as many people as it could and arguably should be reaching. I think that a more 'personal', less 'mysterious' profile of the band [again note that this is not saying the band are standoff-ish/deliberately mysterious etc] will help this process, so I'm all for it. Hope this trend continues going forward, as I think the band will be better off for it. However, having said all that, I'm going to completely contradict myself on one point and say that I think that they shouldn't put a photo of the band on cover of Album 2 - except in some very rare examples (and excluding live albums where it looks totally normal), I think it always looks a bit naff when a band has a picture of themselves on an album cover. But in everything else: go for it, and try to engage potential new fans by presenting as personable and gregarious a media image as possible!

Yeah this is more or less the kind of discussion I was hoping to kickstart, but didn't know what exactly to focus on. Prost.

Now that's an interesting concept for a band...marketing, sales, performances and don't piss the fans off too much..... It'll never catch on.................
