So, to the surprise of nobody, the more classic prog sites have decided to put the boot in: www.progarchives.com/album-reviews.asp?id=21412... and who described the album as: "what a snotty nosed 10-year old would produce in his bedroom with a copy of Krystal" Taken from the albums wiki page: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amor_Vincit_Omnia_(album)As I say, the reaction from the more traditionalist prog sites is not in the least bit surprising. With 'The Dark Third' PRR created what was arguably one of the finest examples of traditional progressive music this decade. With AVO, they have jumped into more uncharted territory, and naturally those awaiting The Dark Third 2 have been left cold by AVO. It's disappointing of course that some of the reviews are choosing to invent criticisms, rather than just acknowledge that the band have moved beyond their tastes. Of course I haven't heard the full thing yet, but I am anxious to hear how cohesive AVO is as a whole. One of the things I loved so much about 'The Dark Third', was how well every track gelled together, and I do hope that flow is preserved with this new one. Hopefully the more open minded reviews will flood in soon.

Going on the bits and pieces I've heard of the new stuff (mainly live versions of AVO tracks), this post sums up how I feel about some of the criticisms of the new album; all of which I've heard so far sounds excellent. Great post. <looks for an applause emoticon, but has to settle for text in lieu of one>

Some times are just way too predictable...
Let's just hope those prog critics won't be a burden for the band as far as the album's release is concerned...

Nobody said it on a leading web magazine, that's why there's no citation or name given. Do you recall the large amount of vandalism of PRR-related articles? Well, that's all back. Zootown's only other edits have been vandalism of PRR-related articles... It's OK, it's been changed back to a proper page.

A suprise to no-one I'm sure.
All I hope is the band finds the right audience for this.

Great post. <looks for an applause emoticon, but has to settle for text in lieu of one> Thanks. I'm a member of a fairly large gaming forum, and I've been pimping PRR in their music folder recently. I actually got involved in a short but interesting debate about prog with some fellow forumites and posted a rather large rant about the subject when somebody dismissed PRR as meandering indie. For anyone fussed you can read it here (I'm Robo_1): www.rllmukforum.com/index.php?showtopic=199463&st=40&start=40In short I basically believe that prog is an idea, not a genre as such and that PRR's evolution in sound with AVO, is more progressive than them simply doing a re-jigged Dark Third, even if The Dark Third had more associations with established prog conventions than AVO seems to. It's all good though, I can appreciate both sorts, but it's as predictable as it is sad to see a band who have revolutionised their sound, dismissed by the very people who claim to champion fresh ideas and original music.

It's OK, it's been changed back to a proper page. That's good. Yeah the lack of citation should have raised more alarm bells than it did, and I did think about editing it myself. I'm not really familiar with Zootown, PRR's very own internet stalker! How odd.

wow, it's pretty sad that people go to that length to prove absolutely no point whatsoever! Zootown? that's a new one - although, no prizes for guessing who that is?
to be fair, I don't really think the band really gives a fuck what prog critics think, what with prog being well gay, an that.

I think it's stupid for listeners to tell the band who they (the band) are.

"to be fair, I don't really think the band really gives a fuck what prog critics think, what with prog being well gay, an that." Didn't you forget the bit where you add "...not that there's anything wrong with being gay of course"? Or were you just trying to be insulting on purpose? Anyhow, as to the new album... Loving it more & more. Certainly took a lot longer to get into than TDT but I'm even liking Bloodless now

Political correctness? Seriously? Please tell me we're not about to open 'PC gate' on the forum, as if we don't bicker enough as it is...

I believe he meant 'prog is well gay' in the way that prog (fans) only love other prog. there's no swapping between other genres like the metrosexual PRR.
and also, prog is well gay.

S'ok, I don't get upset about it (far too old for that now!) I just like to point it out & make people think a little. And it's not about "political correctness gone mad!", it's about being nice to other people. Is that so hard?
Again back to AVO; I think I prefer the single version of Victorious Cupid to the album one (I've replaced it in my playlist) even with the bizarre timesig change in the last few bars. I've listened to it 55 times according to Last.fm and it still catches me out.
