Brilliant! (Also good to have you back, baldy, remember you on the old Sony boards but you don't seem to be around so much on these ones.) No mention of a live DVD for the show though, does this mean we can now forget about this happening? Hope not. Anyway, regardless this is a welcome bit of news, looking forward to June 20th! ;D

Also, is the mp3 download of the rough mix of Deus working for anyone - I'm getting a repeated File Not Found error round these parts?

Great news...but what on earth are PRR playing at having not mentioned this! They must have known surely, their permission must have had to have been given but the fact that it's cropping up on blogs before the band have acknowledged it is a little disappointing, thought they were trying to improve the lack of news situation. That said...if there's any kind of announcement in the next few days, I retract this statement!

Yeah - turned out not to be so untrustworthy after all. I believe in this case the person responsible was one of the organisers of NEARfest itself (see the discussion page of the wikipedia article).
Re lack of notice, it is definitely striking how they have totally failed to capitalise on any publicity/enthusiasm generated from the Water Rats...not a peep out of them since! We can only hope scat is right in assuming they're too deeply involved in pooring their "sweat and blood" into new recordings to bother about the outside world...

'Twas to be expected though really, everyone knows that they've still got a fair way to go on the second album and that they basically plan to shut themselves up in the studio until it's ready.
That said, it probably wouldn't hurt over the coming weeks and months if the band dropped the old word about how it's going, or even [HINT HINT to any visiting band members ;D] put up on Myspace the odd excerpt of any new tracks that are finished in advance of the whole album being completed. We're all thirsting for *new* stuff, and it will surely be worth the wait.

I think the reason there has been no official word on this is that it's not an official PRR release. for Nearfest to release this, it doesn't need to have PRR's permission, as there was probably something in the contract to play the festival that they would be recording them, and this would probably be released. so don't blame the band for being slack, this release isn't coming out on their label, they've had no real input into it, so it's just going to be something that's out there.
I've heard rumblings that Album number 2 is shaping up well, and it should fingers crossed be out early '08 at the very latest.

Fair enough, I'm quite surprised a label can release a live album without a band's permission (I mean, obviously, apart from the gig contract) goes to show how little I know though really! You can't blame the fans for suspecting the band to be a bit slack when it comes to publicity however, over the last while they haven't been the best. Glad it's going to be out there though, I'm sure it was a great set, as always, as the bootlegs that are out there will show...I just hope the band get some kind of reward from the sales to be honest, otherwise it mayaswell be another bootleg like the others around, I'm not keen on the idea of someone profiting of the performance of our boys and girl, without them getting something for it. But as long as album 2 is shaping up nicely, we'll forgive them of course...though last I heard, from someone of reliability, it was DEFINATELY autumn, is that another date put back?!

well..Nearfest has released a bunch of these in the past, so this is hardly *new* or surprising for them or anyone else whose familiar with the festival. ProgFest and ProgDay did the same..some others as well. Like it was mentioned above, it had to be in their contract.
That being said, yeah..I agree, the band really should have come out and mentioned something about it 1st. Suppose when the next LP #2 update comes, they could at least mention it, as a reminder to fans who may not see this now.

well, the release date hasn't been put back, but, if you don't see it by september, you'll see it in January.
as for the nearfest thing. the band basically have signed their performance rights away, so Nearfest can basically do whatever they want with it. The band know it's being released though, and they're ok with it.
either way, it's another one for the collection!!
