Exactly Rob. Or, he's being deliberately confrontational and got a rise out of you. It's this clearly. No stop discouraging him!

Yes I'm really looking forward to the new album too. Anyone else?

dav1d: are you the sort of person Stephen Fry describes as having a "settled conviction that art, literature and the play of ideas [are nothing] more than 'wank'."? NopeBecause if so, please never comment on these sorts of threads. They are not for people who are like that. Please, continue enjoying the music, but never claim to have insight into anything, or claim that nobody else can have it. That mean I CAN comment then?Victorious Cupid is equivalent to Amor Vincit Omnia, the name of a painting by Carravagio which prominently features nude limbs, as does this piece of artwork we have about the new tour. If you can't see the clear links there, then I hasten to say that you underestimate how complex artists can be. Do you have a beard?

Right, this is getting silly now, can we have some sensible discussion please? dav1d, I'm on record on these boards as not really being all that interested in the Classical/other (and often obscure) influences PRR draw from and frequently reference in their music, lyrics and titles - it's not my cup of tea either, and I often have very little to contribute to threads discussing these subjects. However, as forwardrob quite correctly pointed out, there is plenty of mileage and discussion to be had on these topics for people (who probably make up a majority on the forums) who ARE interested in this side of things. The odd flippant comment every now and then on these subjects (and on most things that get discussed all over these forums) doesn't do any harm, but there's no need to try and sink a perfectly reasonable thread just because you're not interested in what's being said there. If a thread is inappropriate or offensive then people should report it to the Staff team via PMs; if (as in this case) you simply don't care for the contents/theme of a thread, then don't contribute to it and let other people discuss it without having to fend off repeated digs at their discussions. Thanks very much. Let's keep the discussions on the new album in this thread, cheers everyone.

That is officially the first time I've seen yellow writing on these boards. Bad bad sign. I think everyone just needs to take a deep breath and concentrate really really hard on how cool the new album's going to be.

I'm still dying to hear Apogee and Les Malheurs. I've not seen anything on YouTube or anywhere else.
But then, what is even more interesting to me is that the songs we've heard don't even make up the whole album. Correct me if I'm wrong, but we only know of these songs:
Victorious Cupid Deus Ex Machina Gloaming Les Malheurs Apogee of My Love (or is it just Apogee?) Disconnect (which we haven't even heard yet)
Six songs, and TDT had nine. I can't wait to see what else PRR have in store for us. And, I think all of their song/album titles are insanely cool. =P

I don't know about the size of the stages (personally I'd be more concerned about the quality of the sound system) but I think you should go to King Tut's Wah Wah Hut, because it has the most amazing name. Haha

Victorious Cupid Deus Ex Machina Gloaming Les Malheurs Apogee of My Love (or is it just Apogee?) Disconnect (which we haven't even heard yet) These are all the official/semi-official names to date, but the real challenge is predicting the order. Now, in the past, the PRR live set list has normally pretty closely remebled the album order for TDT era stuff. They used to open with Aeropause, move to Ambassadors via Apprentice, and thence onto VIW and Willows...so if we can judge it from the set list, the tracks on the new album will roughly go: Malheurs, Apogee, Deus, [something], Cupid, [something(s)], Gloaming. That would be my prediction. As for titles, I think someone mentioned something like 'Blood Lust' or something (nice and specific I know). That may be a Freudian slip on my part, but I'm pretty sure there was a title with blood in it.

I would like to see VC and DEM at the beginning, Gloaming in the middle, and lots of surprises. I haven't seen anything about "Blood Lust" (or whatever it's called). Do you remember where you heard about that? I'm dying for any PRR info I can get my hands on. One of my favorite things about The Dark Third is how Asleep Under Eiderdown is on there at the very end. . . Maybe the most peaceful song I've ever heard. I wouldn't mind if they did something like that again!

I'd be surprised it they had any hidden tracks like that, at least not on the primary release. But yeah it would be cool to get a couple of B-sides perhaps on a re-release/single someday. Actually, talking of singles, I wonder if there'll be any officially-released songs before March 9th?
I don't remember where I heard the name I mentioned, it was someone at the Cargo, but I do agree that Cupid would work well as an opener. I think Deus (live and on the album) would be good as a finisher actually, cos it's got that neat little ending. But I'm not too concerned about track listings, as long as it all works well as an album, which judging by the dark third, PRR is VERY good at doing.

I expect there will be a radio single, physical is unlikely though.

Didn't they say at one of the recent gigs (in Germany, I believe) that Deus Ex Machina was going to be the first single from the album? Which is why they played it twice? ;D

If Deus is the first single, then Victorious Cupid won't be on the album But that's only a theory...
