Other stuff happens at altars too.
Anyway, I love the bit of the song at just after 4mins... also, the live version on youtube sounds meatier, which I think is a good thing. Will probably be more like that in the finished version than the demo version. Really looking forward to the new album, perhaps a tour will coincide with me returning to the UK in May? here's hoping!

This is what I've been able to get just from listening over and over again, as far as lyrics go:
"An exorcism of his foul mind, A promised love, Deus Ex Machina, (Don't know this bit), Her frail love, Deus Ex Machina,
She didn't wanna know, She'll fucking never know, She told him lies and raised her Deus Ex Machina, She didn't wanna know, So she could never grow, She sodomised and raised a child and worked (something I can't catch),
The last decision, the last guise, To mention love, Deus Ex Machina, (Same bit I didn't know near the start), Her veiled love, Deus Ex Machina,
She didn't wanna know, And lost her wicked soul, (Something I can't catch), Deus Ex Machina (might be "That's thrown a spanner in our Deus Ex Machina", but I'm not sure) She didn't wanna show, So she could never grow, She's told'em lies and raised a child who won't believe her,
(Something I can't catch), You bring lovers, (Something I can't catch), You bring lovers, (Something I can't can't catch), You bring lovers, (Something I can't catch), You bring lovers,
Did you feel alive, did you ever mind, ever learn, Did you bring your love to (something) lovers, Did you feel alive, did you ever mind, ever learn Did you feel your love amongst your lovers,
Now take your rose to the altar, Accept their praise,
She grabbed (something) and the sweetest ever lips, you know my dream never leaved, it's out before the dawn, And like a Deus Ex Machina she ground mine, growing clearer you'll always feel I'm one,
An exorcism, a foul mind, I promise love, An excorism, a dead foul mind, I did promise love,
(Something I can't catch), You bring lovers, (Something I can't catch), You bring lovers, Get to the (something) you (something) mothers, (Something I can't can't catch), You bring lovers, Get to the (something) you (something) mothers, (Something I can't catch), You bring lovers,
Did you feel in love, did you ever mind, ever learn, Did you bring your love to (something) Did you feel in love, did you ever mind, ever learn, (Something I can't catch),
Now bring your rose to the altar, accept their praise."
Don't think I'll ever have any hope of catching anything after that, heh. Hopefully someone can fill in the gaps?

Mmmm....not convinced I agree with all of that guess (though respect for trying to work it out!) I gave up even bothering to try to decpiher PRR lyrics a long time ago...I just end up getting the totally wrong end of the stick!

But I'm very impressed with what you've worked out - there's quite a lot that sounds right, although a few bits I definitely disagree with (e.g. 'sodomise'...! I'm pretty sure it's 'sold her/them lies'. As we know from Trembling Willows, they like swapping 'bold' and 'sold', or in this case 'told' and 'sold').

Aye, you're probably right. I have a habit of being wildly off with figuring out lyrics, though it won't stop me trying!

Ah, but that's the great thing about PRR. The lyrics leave lots of scope for...interpretation. Or in some cases hilarity. I have a mate who's convinced that Bullitts Dominae is all about someone called Brian (even when I showed him the official lyrics booklet he refused to believe that 'inner shperes collided' wasn't 'say nothing bout Brian'). The sodomise thing is another classic example...

We'll just have to for the album booklet I guess! I can't decipher it.
Wouldn't it be great if they wrote a really dramatic, awesome song with lyrics that no-one can understand, and then when the lyrics are printed in the booklet it turns out to be about going to the park and playing frisbee ;D

Sigur Ros is a bit like that. All their lyrics are about silly things. hoppĂpolla is about jumping in puddles among other things.

I thought they sang nonsensical words, in what they call "Hopelandish". I migh be wrong since I don't like them. And yeah Deus Ex Machina sounds good, I guess you guys have seen the vids on Youtube, sounds good live too.

There's one whole album done like that (which is '( )' ), and there's a couple of songs on every other album done that way. Everything else is in Icelandic though. And they've certainly never called it that, and very much aren't down with it being termed anything really. It's just Jonsi making noise really, just melodies. None of it means anything though.

I realise you're Belgian and I'm sure that your English is a lot better than my Flemish/French, so I'm in no position to comment, but you've just made me laugh as much as I ever have done on these forums! I think you meant "guys" rather than "gays" in your post - gay is a term that means homosexual in English! Unless that IS what you meant...?! Like I say, I understand English isn't your first language so I'm not laughing at you, but you've put a smile on my face: thanks very much! ;D

I can only agree on the difficulty of understand PRR's lyrics - I thought it was because I've got Swedish as my first language. Then I read the lyrics..... Oh, I'm still Swedish - that's why I don't get it... I love seeing that you British GUYS are hard at it and most of it looks great to me - just as it should Thanx Jon, for bringin some mystery back into our safe and dull world!!
